Whats the point in a bait runner reel?

I use both big pit and bait runner reels The big pits are my set up with 3.1/2 tc rods That I use on my local res were distance casting is needed and would not be achievable with a smaller bait runner reel. For smaller waters then I use my bait runners with 2.1/2 tc rods -

If you are looking for a reliable alarm then look no further than the steve neville great alarms never had any problems with them and there are a few on fleabay up for sale at a good price

Live baiting would be a no go then with the pike present and also dead baits I would go for a pellet approach using big halibut pellets
