  1. Just a little update, I've been destroyed by bream, my carp cradle, net, sling and clothes are covered in slime. I've lost count how many of them I've caught but I'd say 4lb was the average and the biggest was 7lb 3oz. Last night was manic, I switched over to a size 6 with an 18mm pop up topped off with a piece of plastic maize and I was still bringing them in, sadly no carp lol! Gonna call it a day soon and go home and get some sleep haha.
  2. 5 bream now, had them all on maize but tempted to switch over to a pop up later because I don't want to be catching them all night lol. No carp yet, I've blasted the rod with a chod rig as far as I could to the other side (fish showing over there) but because I don't have any pellets/boilies to put into a bag or make a stick mix with, it's just on it's own. Should I leave the rod with the zig rig on out over night or should I switch to fishing the bottom when it gets dark? Thanks
  3. I've just set up on a resivour for a 24 hour session. Never fished here before so giving a bit of everything a go lol, 3 rods out, 1 on a chod rig, 1 on a zig rig about 2ft under the surface and 1 on 3 bits of maize fished over a big ball of vitalin 😁 I've also took the float rod with me, there's a good head of bream here that goes to low doubles, so might give it a try!! Update: I've had 2 bream since I posted, one about 3lb and the other at 4lb 10oz

  5. Thanks for the replies, in the end I went for the korda float kit, didn't really want to spend £9.99 on it, but it comes with everything and will make life a lot easier setting it all up lol
  6. Did you add a ring to your lead so the line can pass through it easier mate? I tried a pike float last weekend but the float was too buoyant for the 2.5 oz lead so I went back to fishing the bottom lol. Hopefully if I can get away from work early today I'll go to the tackle shop and see what floats they've got
  7. Has anyone tried making these? I was watching a video of the Nash zig float, it looks really good and that but I don't want to be paying £9-£10 for a float and ring that I could loose after a few casts lol.
  8. Cheers buddy, well he's got a choice of the two now, hopefully Ill see him tonight so I'll show them to him then
  9. Cheers mate, I'll show him the fox microns
  10. My dad is after 2 alarms that you can adjust the tone and volume on, he asked me which ones he should get and I honestly don't know what to recommend so I thought I'd ask you guys? He doesn't do a lot of carp fishing so he only wants a cheap pair around £30 each. Any idea which ones he should look for? Thanks!
  11. Yeah I won't bother with the cheap one then mate. Now it's deciding to get the gun with a rolling table or the gun on it's own, already got a 16mm one but tempted to get a 20mm lol
  12. I had something very similar from eBay and it broke after putting a few kilos through it mate, I might pick one up later though because at that price you can't go wrong lol. I'm thinking of getting a gardener deluxe xt sausage gun, are these any better than the cheap ones?
  13. No carp for me in the end. My watercraft isn't the best if I'm honest, I spent most of my time watching my baited spot and there was fish showing...but it was little silvers jumping with the odd bigger splash, but it could of been bream? I dunno, but there wasn't any fizzing/bubbles. With the amount of spombs I was putting out, I was using a smallish fox spomb but I can't remember what size it actually is lol. I spoke to some of the other guys fishing it and they were saying its a waste of time with fishing with particles because of the number of bream/silvers in there. Boilie hook baits with a few scattered around it work best apparently, so time to get a new gun and roll some baits? Lol
  14. I've been plagued by roach and bream all night and setting up next to a field full of lambs was a mistake, probably had 2-3 hours sleep all together lol. Do you think I put too much bait out? It's a 80 acre resivour so I thought it might help bring them closer to my baits. I'm here for most of today so I won't put any more bait out just fish over the same patch
  15. Nothing yet mate, I've rebaited the rods and put about 20 spombs of bait out so I'll leave them out for the night now unless I catch. I hit the bivvy with the spomb as well and coated it in particles lol. Sat in the bivvy having a brew and a bacon sandwich now, happy days lol
  16. I've just finished getting the rods out, got one on two grains of pop up maize and the other 2 on pineapple pop ups. I used the marker rod to find a gravel patch that's 9ft deep, clipped up and used some bank sticks to wrap up my 3 rods and the spomb rod. I baited the area with 25 spombs of birdseed and maize (arms feel like their gonna drop off lol) and put my three rods on the baited area. I'll be baiting up again when it's starting to get dark, probably put another 10 spombs out as well. I've never used wrapping sticks/clipping up before so it's probably gonna take a few sessions to get used to it lol.
  17. I've got the drennan red range float reel, its a really smooth reel, comes with a spare spool, quick release handle and has rear drag
  18. I ended up buying this one about an hour before you posted lol, got it for £82.99 including the bag that fits in the middle and free p&p yeah the arms does seem abit higher than other barrows but I love how it folds down to nothing. It should be here Tuesday mate so I'll let you know how I get on with it
  19. Has anyone used the jrc contact barrow or the fox royale barrow? Which one would you recommend? Thanks
  20. The drennan reel turned up today..such a nice reel, really light and smooth
  21. Been reading up on these and I think 7m is going to be too short..the 12m is over 100 so I'm gonna look for a cheap second hand 12m pole rod (or around that size) cut it down and fix the top of a cheap bank stick to it so I can attach a spoon lol
  22. Has anyone used the ngt baiting pole and spoon? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NGT-7m-Carbon-Fibre-Long-Reach-Baiting-Pole-Handle-With-Free-Spoon-Float-/112000323981?hash=item1a13bd518d:g:cF0AAOSwcvdXOyYu If you've used one, what's the quality of it like?
  23. I'd advise giving the jrc sti 2 man bivvy a miss, its a ball ache setting up and the bedchairs are a real tight fit going from the back of the bivvy to the front lol
  24. Thanks for the info, decided to go for a 11ft one with the drennan reel. I was gonna go for a 10ft one but as you said about fishing in deep water maybe a 11ft one will be better because a few of the waters I fish are pretty deep lol just hope it's here by Friday
