  1. In the history of hijacked threads, this has got to go down in history as one of the greatest hijacked threads ever!!!!
  2. Food package available (which is supposed to be the mutts) and about 10kgs will see me through. And there are bait freezers in the cabin....
  3. There's a decent shower block there and I will change my clothes on a daily basis....... Might go without a shave though..... oh the pleasure in that for a week.
  4. I'll sometimes use a single bankstick, but only if I am having one rod off at an acute angle, such as fishing the near margins. I much prefer the pod. I've never found any ground that's too hard to get a pod into!
  5. Don't get what you mean CM. Care to elaborate a little. Or am I being particularly thick?
  6. Would you contemplate doing a weeks drive and survive with only a good quality 60" brolly for shelter? Bearing in mind you would be going during the height of Summer, so hopefully not too much rain or wind and the temperatures should be good, even at night. Most I've done under it so far is a 48 hour session which was fine. But 7 nights????? Thoughts.....
  7. I've got a Cygnet Quicklock pod and absolutely love it. Very quick and easy to set up/take down, and is as solid as a rock. Sits nice and low to the ground too, so if it's a bit windy I can easily get my rod tips into the water if needs be. One of the most annoying sounds to me when I'm fishing is somebody hammering their bank sticks into rock hard ground, so I'm not going to inflict that on anybody else.
  8. I tend to think along the same lines. But each to their own and if you can afford it, go ahead. I've got a Cygnet Quicklock which I picked up a good few years ago now for about £50.00 off of the bay. Wouldn't swap it for the world, it's a great pod. I tend to prefer stealth black to chrome.....
  9. Have heard back from Eddy, he can reserve us a week, just wanted to confirm I was talking about 2018!!
  10. I'm going to make a tentative enquiry as to availability for a week around the end of June, beginning of July. Plenty of light to fish and won't be too chilly at night. I'll let you know.
  11. Apparently the food package is supposed to be brilliant too. Plus they supply nets, weigh slings and unhooking mats so no need to trawl that lot down there. Dining area, showers, safes, etc. I haven't yet read a bad review about the place. And if I can get six, that will give us a lake exclusive so plenty of room to fish and nobody else to annoy us!
  12. Here's a link to the page on their website which gives the general area.... it's not far from Le Mans. http://www.genesis-carpfishery.com/where.php It will be about a 4.5 hour drive down from Calais, taking it fairly easy. The lake I normally go to is about 100km further on, and I can do that in 5 easy.
  13. I might just reserve it anyway. It's only £300.00 deposit and £1200.00 for the week for a lake exclusive. Just think of the fun I could have on my own!! HMS Gonads would run out of battery power within a day on a 12 acre lake....
  14. Thanks for your responses Gents, and I appreciate that it's a long way away. But venues like this get booked up well in advance, I bet you'd be lucky to get a decent week in 2017 hence 2018 is my target. Even the small venue I fish in France has already taken quite a few bookings for next year.......they don't hang around. The thing I like the sound of at Genesis is the fact that it doesn't appear to have any of those horrible bleeding catfish in it. Ugly things they are.....
  15. Have already booked next years fishing trip so looking a long way ahead for this.... 2018!! Have been reading up about Genesis Lake in France, it gets fantastic reviews, and just wondered if anyone fancied coming along for a week on a "lake exclusive" (6 anglers)? http://www.genesis-carpfishery.com/home.php At the moment, the cost as shown on their website is £1,200.00 so this works out at just £200.00 per person for a weeks fishing on what looks a superb water. I'm quite happy to take on all the organisation etc. just putting a few feelers out at this stage to see if anybody else would be interested. No dates in mind yet, open to suggestions, but let's just say I prefer the lighter mornings and later nights of the Summer..... I like a beer (but not when I'm fishing) and I don't do illegal substances!! Just looking for a week away with some good laughs and the chance to catch a lump or two, and maybe a little competition for a few bob. Rob
  16. Also, to quote somebody from "another" forum who has been there.... "Got back from there end of Sept, lovely lakes and setup. Orchard looks great for a couple and seems to have some good fish, not fished it so going on others say so but certainly one for the future. Didn't look in the accommodation on birches properly but that's because the lake didn't float my boat too much (too long and narrow to comfortably cover the whole lake by 2 people for my liking) but orchards lodge is plenty big and nice enough for sure. I did poplars and the mobile home is plenty big enough for two and has everything you need and it seems to be the same for orchard so presuming they are all pretty roomy. I expect you should manage a great trip on any of his lakes, its a lovely setup and Pauls a great host."
  17. Never been there but here's a video I found on You Tube that might give you a bit of info??? Looks a nice, intimate little water. Just the kind I like. Hope you have a great time.
  18. I've got one of those Fox ones with the guard on the front to stop me chipping my nail varnish  . Bought a new one just before this years French trip and one of the elastics snapped half way through the week. I had an old one lying in my tackle bag where the riveted base had come away from the pouch, I just swapped the elastics over and had no more problems. I prefer the ones with a hand guard. A recoil of the rubber across your knuckles at 4 in the morning doesn't half wake you up.

  20. You don't even have to flick the switch, (although I always do)' ...just start reeling in and the baitrunner disengages.
  21. I would imagine if you are fishing a lot then the relative cost is going to come down considerably. I don't fish enough to even contemplate rolling my own. Bit like joining a golf club. My membership costs me £1,100.00 a year. If I play 50 times a year it works out cheaper than paying a green fee. If I only play 20 times a year I'm on to a loser.
