you wont need a licence as its a commercial water and all permits/licences will be included in the price. the only time you will need a carte du peche is if you are fishing public waters. if your still unsure, phone them and they will tell you. hope that helps.

i've always been a big fan of running leads as they are, imo, the most sensitive, indication wise and in the event of a breakage the lead is free to discharge. the only problem i have is when using them around snaggy areas or thick weed, when it would be an advantage to dump the lead. until recently the only effective way of doing this was by incorporating a rotten bottom, which can be a bit hit and miss and fiddly to tie, especially if your using pva tape/string in the damp. never been a fan of lead clips as i think the fish use the weight of the lead to discharge the hook. the only real positive with a lead clip is the ease with which the lead can be dumped. then i found something that is really cleaver.. using a modified lead clip that works like a running lead and in the event of a breakage, the only thing left behind is the hooklink. take a look at this link... be ready to be impressed. once you use one you will never use a normal lead clip again. sorry, tried to find the vid of the lead clip system, this is of the inline system.

still cant work out if you can by a national licence or weather you have to get them region by region. or do you buy a licence and get regions stamped on it, paying an extra charge for each region...

does anyone know the rules on french rod licences. going soon and want to spend a bit of time on public waters. i would like to know how do i go about finding out what is and isnt fishable, where i can fish nights etc etc . any help would be most grateful..

hmmm trigonometry...that takes me back know when i fish a pop up i like to keep the hair fairly short so as to keep the hook 'hidden' under the bait, usually tied on to a ring on a small D. like on a choddy! i think when you look at it in the edge, a 16mm bait on a size 6 will leave the point of the hook falling outside the plane of the hypothetical triangle . when i use a pop up as part of a snowman set up, the length of the hair is determined by the way the fish are feeding,the more confident, the longer the hair. hope this is of some use

love snake skin, caught loads on the stuff. tried loads of other coated hooklink materials but keep coming back to it. when i dont want to fish a combi link i use x-line floro carbon. brilliant stuff!!

you can fish this water like you would fish any water over here. fished lake 2 only once and only for 24 hours (waiting for a swim on the big lake) and i had several fish up to high twenties. fishing far margin with a fairly light scattering of bait, two bait stringers on snowman set ups. you can use bait boats on this water and they are supposed to be quite effective. didnt use one myself. i used mainline and nutrabaits gear. as i said, you might have a little bit of a problem with the poisson chat but you can overcome this problem quite easily by using bait armour. i fished the second swim from the entrance but i think the third swim may be more comfy if you want to use electricity as there is a hook up point in this swim. there are fish to over 50 lb in this lake. hope this is of help.
