  1. Week starting 14th Aug 2010 We had James and girlfriend Kayliegh and James 2 for the week just the guys were fishing they had a hard week and only managed to land 2 fish in the upper 20s but lost/missed a staggering dozen fish. I am sure next time you will be sitting by your rods
  2. Hi Matt Have a look at Carpquarry I am sure we could work out a short break for you, single bookings or exclusive, we are in Brittany and only 90 mins from the port of St Malo or 3h from Caen both from Portsmouth. www.carpquarry.co.uk
  3. In my view if you are only there for a week you need all the help you can get and if that means cheating a bit with a baitboat then go for it. If the lake / swim that you are fishing has trees/bushes to fish to on an island or far bank you are better of with a boat where you could get it under the overhanging trees which would be impossible to cast under if its at any sort of range.
  4. I did discard my place as we dont have a pool or kids play area, but as you say it does fit the bill on alot of the points it maybe worth havng a look at the website. Have been trying to think of a place that fit all the point but as of yet have not come up with the perfect venue for viynl
  5. If you were to change ferry ports say Newhaven to Dieppe which is still cheap that would open up Brittany ( 5 hours) to you and then it may be worth having a look at Blavet valley, I think they have a pool and luxury mobile home
  6. Catch report 9th Aug - 13th Aug 2010 We had guests Andy and his son Rory over from Hampshire for a short midweek session They managed to get 9 fish on the bank and lost 5 which was pretty good considering they only fished for a little more than 3 days the fish landed were Mirrors of 21 lb, 22.8 lb, 24 lb, 26 lb, 26.8 lb, 30 lb, 30 lb, 34 lb and a wildie of 8 lb. Well done guys.
  7. Rob and Jacqui from South London came to stay with us at Carpquarry only Rob was fishing I think he had a bit of a frustrating week with losing 6 fish but he still managed to land 4 fish 25lb, 26lb8oz, 29lb and a new PB at 31lb4oz most of the action was close in in swims 1 and 6 and all the takes were on our Peach and blackpepper and Squid scopex and robin red boilies on a bed of Carpquarry pellet. Should have some new pics on the website soon
  8. Copied this from another website which may have a few pointers for you. The minimum age in France to drive a car is 18 years. Drivers must have a valid driving licence and be 18 years or older. The minimum ages to ride varying sizes of scooters or motor bikes vary, beginning with mopeds (cyclomoteurs) of under 50cc where it is 14 years subject to the conditions outlined on this INFOrmation Page: French Driving Licences. Rules & Regulations Drive on the right in France It is compulsory to wear a seat belt front and rear (if fitted) It is compulsory for all children up to 10 years to travel in the back seat of a car and wear a seat belt or be strapped into a proper child seat. Only adults and children from 10 years may sit in the front passenger seat Mobile cellular telephones may not be used while driving except with a "handsfree" system It is compulsory to carry a driving licence, car registration papers (Carte Grise) and insurance documents. These must be the original documents; keep copies separately Third party insurance is compulsory Driving with lights on by day is optional. Note: Cyclists may travel against the traffic on one-way roads in zones where the speed is limited to 30 Km/h. For more information and examples of the road signs indicating this: Click here (in French) Warning triangle and safety jacket By law, one red warning triangle and one high-visibility waistcoat/vest must be carried in a vehicle. In the event of breakdown the driver must put on the safety jacket before leaving the vehicle, and then place the warning triangle 30 metres from the breakdown to warn approaching traffic. Failure to carry these items in the vehicle is punishable by a fine incurred per item not carried. The triangle must conform to EU standards, evidence for which is the stamp E 27 R The high-visibility garment must conform to EU standards EN 471 or EN 1150, in order to conform with European Directive 89/686/EEC Further information from Sécurité routière: Click here (in French) Licences EU and EEA driving licences are valid in France. However, if a French resident holding a non-French licence issued by an EU or EEA member country commits a motoring offence in France that involves penalty points they must exchange that licence for a French licence. See Foreign Driving Licences in France for further details. International Driving Licences (IDL) accompanied by a valid foreign licence (non-EU or EEA) are accepted in France. But once the licence holder has been resident in the country for one year the licence becomes invalid. If an exchange agreement exists with the issuing country it may be exchanged for a French one during the first year of residency. If there is no exchange agreement the driver must pass a full French driving examination to qualify for a French licence.
  9. I think the rule is that high vis jackets have to be in the front ( not worn)for only the persons sitting in the front of the motor, you also need a warning triangle and a GB sticker if the motor does not have one on the number plate. Have a good trip.
  10. Popped down the lake yesterday for one of my quick 3 hour sessions and had 3 fish 28lb, 32lb and a PB of 45lb have put the lin on here so you can have a look at the video on the news page of website. http://www.carpquarry.co.uk/news.php
  11. Yes between Brest and Dinard airports in Brittany they cover most of the UK. Transfer time from Brest 60min and Dinard 80mins.
  12. I think you have hit the nail on the head Kim, Spend your time and do your homework before booking and pick the right lake for you/your group depending on your experiance and expectations.
  13. Interesting point Keith, now I am just think to myself would I want to go on a carp holiday where there was no chance of breaking my PB, I am not so sure I would if it was a once a year thing. So I guess for alot of people it comes down to what there best fish are.
  14. I can see that there are monster hunters that are only interested in fish over 70lb but to catch a fish like that you may have to wait weeks if not years to catch, for me if I was going on a carp holiday I would want a good chance of getting a 30lb plus fish, a few beers with some good people and a bit of a giggle and some good grub and thats about it for me.
  15. Hi Chris As said you dont have to go mad with the bait and use whats at the lake if they do boilies/pellet. There are some very big fish in that lake have a talk to Paul the owner and he will give you the best method of getting into them, if they do food I would just pay and go for it, its not cheap in France to buy food so things that you may want to bring that are hard to get hold of are - bacon, baked beans, english sausages, tea bags other than that you get most things. I dont think you need a lic there but you can check with Paul. Have a good one and catch one of his 50s
  16. Have never heard a bad word about Rushes and thats coming from another lake owner, have also heard they are pritty good in the kitchen aswell ,so go for the food package
  17. Well if you come to me or Blavet you will have a great time, you will not go far wrong,if you go to Blavet have the food package its meant to be top rate, other than that just have a good one and enjoy.
  18. You can book Carpquarry on an individual basis and have a private bedroom and share use of rest of house if you dont want hubby to bring his mates and I am sure that we would be able to sort out a personal bivvy for your little girl, I will just have to make sure I dont tell my little 4 year old boy or he will want to come round and play all day.
  19. Hiya It may be worth having a look at my lake Carpquarry you get a house lake and exclusive if you wish, worth checking out the website www.carpquarry.co.uk Also have a look at Blavet Valley I know they have kids area, Pool? Also click on fishing holidays tab at top of page
