  2. Thats pretty much how I feel about zigs too. No doubt they catch fish but I just cant abide using them. They are an utter pain in the rear on the cast and then when playing fish its just a farce if you have a long hooklength. I can see the adjustable one with a pilot float being the one to use, only a 3-4ft hooklength has got to be easier to manage than a 12ft one. Anyway to quote the late Pete Broxup... Real men catch them on the bottom
  3. Doesnt look much different to a 'standard' stiff rig made famous by Terry Hearn. Would have to say the fake bloodworm for me is just complicating the rig too much for me. The stiff rig is a good little rig on its own without adding more 'stuff' to it. Needs some putty at the base of the link to hold it all on the bottom tho
  4. Turners Pool in Macc is stuffed with carp, only little 'uns but a fish a chuck. Ideal for a nipper.
  5. No I aint fished it myself. I would though as a social thing with a few mates. IMO its not 'serious' fishing, more an enjoyable release. Each to their own though and all that. As for the runs water question you say you managed on average 2 fish a session on Sandhurst, well being as i've had 3 pick-ups between June and November having done 30 odd nights then 2 fish a session could be considered an Uber runs water
  6. Sandhurst = Turkey Shoot 400 carp in 14 acres Doddle....Sounds like the ideal place to spend a few days with friends. Plus you can have a look at the other famous venues while your there As you can see below, something for all.
  7. Firstly, i'm not your pal, secondly I was just adding something to the debate about using flying backleads. If you dont like it fair enough. I dont think it was to inappropriate a thing to mention using flying backleads in weed under the circumstances....
  8. Erm...I did. Cant you not see it, its just above your post quoted above.... Do you have an issue with me mentioning it??
  9. Why use them at all. They are to be honest just another gimic to make people spend money If you happen to be fishing a weedy water using flying backleads can be quite dangerous. They can get stuck in the weed and any fish you hook could be miles away from where your line enters the water! Better all round to just fish slacker lines to get said line on the bottom if needed.
  10. Hell no! Everything thats wrong about todays 'carp fishing world' in a nutshell. 80 carp in 3 acres on the 'specimen' lake and they reckon its going to be challenging The only function places like this perform are to keep people you wouldnt want to appear on your local 'proper' carp lake away....sorry but this sucks....
  11. It would still be dubious if tagged as a 17lb'er never mind 27 A poor show when a fishery exaggerates fish size like this. Maybe a place to avoid
  12. Send an email, or better still give someone a ring. Theres 5 contact numbers there. I'm sure if you're polite they will be only to glad to help and wont mind you calling. That way you get the info first hand rather than a maybe incorrect answer. Best of luck, the waters look nice and all for a very reasonable fee.
  13. Ah yes, the power of Google! One day, I reckon it'll take over http://www.saffronwaldenac.btik.com/p_About_us.ikml
  14. At a guess i'd say this is the place. Just open in Google Earth. www.geograph.org.uk/photo/115363.kml
  15. Anyone within shooting distance of this place has enough angling to last more than a lifetime Just wish it was nearer than the 160 miles it is from me
