  1. I live quite close and cross the canal at the county arms every morning. Have walked up and down a few times when i had the dogs and there are quite a few nice looking spots although i havent seen any signs of carp. Just about to start baiting a few spots on the way home from work myself, looking forward to the whole challenge. I have had a few nice chub out from the soar just down the road in Whetstone, nip down on my lunch in the summer and get 45mins fishing in.
  2. hello Im fortunate enough to be spending a week on the Gleneagles estate in May, I've not fly fished before but intend on learning the ropes before i go. To be honest i cant wait, been waiting to try fly fishing for ages. I havent done too much research on the area yet as to lochs/lakes/rivers etc. I just wondered if anyone had fished the area and have got any tales of adventure or fishing to tell. This isnt a what lake, what swim or what bait thread, more of a share with me your Gleneagle experience.. thanks bob

  4. hello not fished it myself or any french lakes to be honest.. although if you do a Search that will throw up some info like, This Or this Starmer Baits might have some tips on the bait thats supplied although thread is old. hope this helps.

  11. thanks man, i was going through my filing system i call my brain and this quote stuck out at me from when i was reading this last week. I just did a 24hr at the weekend and after 22hrs of not a sniff i remebered/decided to bang on a zig, so i did. As i was packing away my first rod my alarm screamed on the 2nd rod. Boom.. 14lb Mirror on the bank. This was the only fish of the weekend for my group and walking down the bank which was full there hadn't been too many fish landed at all on any swim. Was a nice session though so prob heading back this weekend try a different swim.
  12. Yes but you are catching fish on the Mantis arent you, so what is the problem? he could be catching more fish with the korda not necessarly less fish, you dont know until you try. I guess its like trying new flavours/baits you wont know if it works on your lake until you try. not that im a korda rep.. **edit** looking at some more posts, looks as though a few have had breakages so it might not be worth the trial...
  13. looking at this myself, havent been to have a look yet but will be.. any chance of one of those PM's with a little bit more info.. nice one.
  14. thanks for the heads up..
  15. Hello, I have been to that part and watched some friends piking (11lb being the biggest they've had) prob gonna nip to Bennets at the weekend to get a permit, all i know is the part where the canal meets the river where the railway bridge is, i will walk up and go have a look at what you have mentioned above. Have you ever night fished it?
