  1. just out of curiosity, how do you guys strip it?
  2. thats like asking a father to name is favourite child.
  3. yeah, put ur finished rig into a frying pan of hot water and pull it straight, as its pretty coily off the spool. Its a pain in the buttocks for kinking and bending
  4. rriiigghhhtt, sounds awkward, I'll stick with flurocarbon coated braids.
  5. the only way that I can see it being worth using is for abrasive reasons, to protect the fluro inner when fishing over muscle beds or something. Other than that it just sounds like a gimmick to me.
  6. yeah m8 thats what im tryin to figure out, braid coated flurocarbon is gonna be stiff all the way through and to camo the flurocarbon is pretty backward.
  7. if ur using a coated braid try roughing up the coating slightly where ur gonna stick the putty or thread a small rig stop on the hooklink and rough that up, rig stop would obviously would work with mono aswell.
  8. I wouldnt feel confident using more than 2 baits.
  9. are you lubricating the line with saliva when u tie ur knots m8?
  10. oh right, the braid is fo camo purposes only? but isnt flurcarbon less visible than braid anyway?
  11. oh right, I've tried it then, when my PVA stringer didnt melt properly and got stuck together lol
  12. naw, I cant find it for toffee, its simply just a hook with about 4 hairs (with bait) instead of the usual 1.
  13. if you can wait till the weekend I will have, I'm doing a review for another site.
  14. yeah m8 i use the fox flying backleads and the captives, I attach the chord holder to my pod and then peg the chord down half a foot away from the leads themselves then they wont go flying off when u strike.
  15. yeah, dont over tighten when using flying backleads, I think anyway if you do it will causes the line to lift off the bottom and the lead will move back down towards the rig somewhat. If you find its flying back too far or theres some weed in the way, tie a stop knot with some powergum or use a rig stop the distance you want the backlead to fly back.
  16. Has anybody tried some of this stuff yet? I can't really understand the point of braid coated flurocarbon, unless im missing something?
  17. crap!! i saw a pic of it somewhere but I cant remember where for the life of me, I'll start looking.
  18. ditto m8, ive tried quite a few hooks and theyve performed the best by far.
  19. i used to put shrink tubing on but to me it didnt make any difference plus my m8 used it all the time on a new water we fished together. We used exactly the same rigs and bait except he used shrink tubing, he blanked more often than he caught whilst I caught at least 2 each time we went together. I also think that sometimes air can become trapped in the tubing and make it sort of stand up a bit and look like a spirit level inside which doesnt look too great underwater, I also found this same problem with semi transparent rig tubing such as the khaki from korda, tiny pockets of air in the rig tubing just look so off putting in the water. I know Fox do different coloured tubing, just buy the one that matches the lake bed as much as possible. Just a confidence thing with me, I used it, caught less, didnt see any improvements so I took it off, now I catch more and the hook holds are just as good.
  20. same here m8, I found I had to get em really scrapping over freebies before I'd even get a sniff on a fake one. I murdered em on friday morning a fish a throw almost. Controller, 8ft of berkley Vanish greased with Mucilin (cept for the last foot or so to the hook), size 12 hook, single chum mixer held on with a baitband. Best result ive had so far when surface fishing.
  21. pre soak your chum mixers m8, can stick the hook straight thru em then with just the point of the hook sticking out. I like to pre soak mine in some type of flavouring which makes it just that little bit different from the norm. Bread Crust is just as deadly as it ever was too, easy to hide your hook in a bit of crust.
  22. I'd rather we have em up North than them be killed. Both buyer and seller are happy. I don't really mind where they are from , Carp aren't even native to the UK anyway.
