  1. At least he asked for help and didnt just use it Sometimes people are to quick to jump at people This photo could be used in a death rig sticky with arrows and annotations as to why it is a DISGUSTING rig?????? To help point out what a death rig is and different variations as some people may look at one death rig- then see another completely different death rig setup and not realise that the later is also a death rig?????
  2. Glad to have helped mbuye2003 I think i have seen ESP raptors in the tackle shop with D-rigs whipped on ready????? may be wrong but im pretty sure you get 6 raptors with the D-rig and ring whipped on for £4 something bit of a rip off tbf
  3. No probs mate In that case, you will need to use thinner line or change to a hook with a bigger eye then., Also- cutting the tag end at an angle to create a point can make it easier to thread the line
  4. Use a whipping knot/ spade end knot rather than a knot-less knot on the hook shank- that way it only goes through the eye once + the tag for the D. I saw fairbrass doing it in the first free korda tackle tactics and tips dvd and tried it- it does appear a lot stronger than the knot-less knot- it doesnt slip. He shows you how to tie it in volume 2 as well (out now and free from your local tackle shop)
  5. I still like mine- the fluro coating is great, wish the inner braid was a bit darker brown rather than greyish- still however has its uses
  6. I do that if i want to use shrink tube with flurocarbon and especialy mono in case the heat of the steam weakens the material
  7. Hi peewee_s , this isnt a rant at you in anyway, i dont do that lol There is a point where every rig imaginable is unsafe in some way or other, but as highlighted, leadcore is amongst the least safe with many different opinions on it, however i ask you this, in all the years you have been fishing, have you ever lifted a scale whilst float, zig or surface fishing??? Even if you have, or anyone else has, the lifting of a scale isnt as bad as a fish dieing from being tethered by a miss-used /dangerous rig, or damage caused via the anglers ignorance for the fishes well being during landing, weighing or photographing the capture etc. I have mixed views on leadcore, my opinion of it has changed and is changing along with my views on alot of other things, Im pretty sure i have contradicted alot of my older posts along the way. Magazines work on fads, and its people that use leadcore (for example) because its the "fashion", and not because they actually need to use something to help better their own fishing and for that i personally think that teh mags and certain anglers have alot to answer for People should have their own opinions, instead of being sheep. B%cks Rig

Jay, Im still crying mate, that should become a sticky That rig is just like its name, and it isnt new , and its in no way difficult to tie, a hair rig with a short hair, and then a separate section of mono etc with a bait on each end through the hair, simples
  9. I am a perfectionist when it comes to detailed art/ drawing and design, I spot inperfections in everything, everything i buy, everything i do, Its a natural eye for detail. My dad is a toolmaking engineer and a damn good one at that, my uncle is a drafts-man, its in the blood. I havnt been carp fishing long, and i dont know anywhere near enough about watercraft as i would like, but in general it is a work in progress and only experiance can teach me, however i maticuously map where i am fishing, i will cast (for example) so that instead of my line crossing gullys near to where my bait is, i will cast parrallel or even into the gullys so that my line is sitting as flat as possible to where i am fishing, i will change pegs to hit the same spot untill i am happy, i think about wher the carp will becoming from and how he will pick up my bait as to try and increase my chances, its not a hard water that i fish, but i want to get into the right frame of mind now so that it becomes habbit. some times, if i am thinking about a specific problem, i will design a rig on paper first, i'll be thinking about the rigs mechanics, and then when i am happy i will tie it up to specification, and play about with it in a bowl of water, make a few changes and then use the rig, makingany changes that are needed as i "evolve" my fishing to suit. This is most likely OTT but i have convinced my self that the mechanics are important however they probably arnt. Every fine detail is taken into acount ie: the amout of hinges, the spin of the hook to get the besthook hold ect. I am convinced that a size 8-6 ssc armapoint gives me the best hooking potential and hook hold and so 90% of my rigs incorparate these hooks. There is a good chance that i could catch similar results on a simple, no singing and dancing bells rig, but i think that the changes i make increase my potential to catch and is a huge boost in confidence. I have forgotten the point of my post now and for that i appolagise, I know there was a point to what i was saying Sorry that it is a long winded reply Jack
  10. My girlfriend lives up that way on google maps there are loads of waters with in like 5 miles so who knows, in a few years i could be living up that way and fishing there
  11. Here you go mate You need to put a gentle curve on the hooklink though Ill tie a better one up later and change the pic as that set up is quite bulky tbf this pic is like a year or 2 old I dont use the cod mutch but i have used them, i used them today- didnt catch though so probably not a great example Im gon'a be quiet now
  12. I think the solar ones were black rather than green??? but the original fox ones may have been black too???? Id like a brown one like the translucent E-S-P brown but tbf i doubt it would make a significant difference as i seemed to catch on the dark green just fine
  13. What else lies in the depth of your brain Nick- Do audi make good cars (please dont ban me )
  14. I actually use a knot similar to that of a spade end knot on my eyed hooks rather than a knotless knot as you dont get as much twist and stress, (the hooklink still travels through the eye tho ) I only use eyed hooks for carp fishing- 80% of the paterns i actually use are Fox arma points
  15. I love them, have been using them for ages on softer bottom lakes as they work the same as my normal in line setup More versatile than a lead clip but give the same presentation when its sitting on the bottom so that the lead can sink in but there is a good chance of the hook link lying flat. I love how its a semi fixed bolt rig and then a running rig (I have mine setup so that the swivel lead just grips on to the sleeve ) and i think that played an important part in my catch results last year (i twigged it on the inline setup first, and then wanted the same for a pendant lead setup) this year im going to compare it to a normal running rig after reading several posts on here and some advice from some older, accomplished carpers.
  16. I think that it was Ian chilliot in one of his articles in carp world that advocated watching things like the korda dvds on mute so that you see what is there and come to your own conclusion to what is happening rather than being influenced or told what is going on by somebody else whilst you are watching what is happening (if i can find it i will quote it later ) I would just like more underwater of footage with several different rigs and lead setups and how the carp react rather than watching all of the rig tying and baiting, and tackle plugs
  17. I know where your coming from Jake, it took me ages to get it right- ( I uses e-s-p sink link which is nion the same) its just perseverance mate, keep trying and you will get it right, practise makes perfect. My fishing leaves a lot to be desired but im tackling one thing at a time and ill get to where i want to be eventually with my own fishing. but you don't get 'out for nu'fin combi links are easier to use tho and im going to use them more this year
  18. As others have said, use a shorter hooklink and pull the hooklink through a pva bag etc and then put twist the hook through some of the mesh and add a nugget of foam, if your hooklink is too long just put the hook in the pva bag/stick etc lower down Tangles will be a thing of the past
  19. No problem fella
  20. A semi-fixed can be an inline rig and infact normaly is, however you can use an inline lead with a running setup just like you can a pendant style lead. So when you talk of semi-fixed im guessing you mean leadclips, leadsleves etc where it is a swivel/pendant style lead that is semi fixed??? If you are on a hard bottom lake, or where there isnt alot of debris, you can get an inline lead to sit nice and flat, keeping your hooklink and leader even closer to teh lake bed, you get a good bolt effect to as the fish has to move less to feel the full weight of the lead. So i think you are spot on on thinking that an Inline rig is more stable and probably more efficient in hooking the carp- on a flat bottom-but it does depend on the situation if you are fishing on a softer bed- a few inches of bottom debris, soft mud or light silt etc- a leadclip or sleeve can work to your advantage as if the lead "plugs" into the bottom, your hooklink and leader still have a good chance of lying flat on the deck as the lead and the swivel my land in the debris etc and sit up right but not be visible as it is under the surface of the lake bed, (as camouflaged as you can possible want your lead to be ) The swivel on the lead may still be above the debris etc so that your hooklink-leader are not pulled into the debris. This means that there is less chance of your hooklink (if its a stiffer type of hooklink- fluro-coated braid etc) from sticking up out of the debris like it would on an in-line set up if the inline became "plugged" I dont know if i have explained that too well so sorry if it sounds patronizing or long winded

  23. Thanks for the reply Marker I did read it all mate, that's what provoked so much thought about it I looked all over the web for leadcore debates and to define the safety of it as im starting to turn against the stuff, but i dont want to stop using it completely. In the fox guide to modern carping they tie the CV safety rig with leadcore???? (much the same as i did to see how it works) Isnt the metal loop on your rig glued in place between two beads??? I just cant see any benefits to the use of the CV safety rig, a simple helicopter is easier to tie and thus safer in most hands and there are less things to go wrong on it???? Its interesting to know that the Blog is yours as most of what i have read has been interesting and has provoked thought. When it comes down to leadcore vs Fluro/mono shock leader Vs Tubing, tubing is the only safe leader, i understand this but i cant see why there is so much anti leadcore and pro fluro (which i use for the most of my fishing), but that is indeed for another thread And btw, i had no intent on using it at all, so dont worry too much about my leadcore set-up, that was just to get my head around the basic mechanics of the set up.
  24. Cheers for your replies lads. Glad to know that im not on my own thinking this Moorsey- And I cant understand why the metal loop is needed either- seems even more unnecessary and dangerous than the leadcore version- especially as you have to glue beads and things like that
