Nice one mate, this pic needs deleting OR Discussing thoroughly to make sure everyone knows what you mean. It is VERY Dangerous!

Official reason was certain batches snapped on loop knots, they spent hours on the DVDs telling people to tie them and...SNAP!!! They brought out the stiff as a replacement which IMO is nowhere near as good, ive got half a spool of soft left and ill be gutted when its gone. I ALWAYS use loop knots and ive had no bother at all, some people did though. There is a point where the manufacturers have to recall products if there is an obvious issue, not a one off. It will be calculated in percentages and cost effectiveness i imagine. Cant you remember the last DVD??? Mr Fairbrass told people to use the little rig rings instead of loop knots, he never shut up about it!! Clever really as it means you will go buy the rig rings now even though the stiff is fine with loops.

On the lighter, smaller diameter fluoros and monos the 'kick' the KK gives can be beneficial, the heavier, thicker lines seem arent so good though as the movement is even more restricted. Up until last year my PB was caught using a simple KK with fluoro

Like me Saying that its not a rig i use so.....

Oh well, you know what works mate. The fact that your thinking around the little issues shows it. I always thought the loops to the swivels should be a bit bigger to improve the movement of the supple section though? Saying that i doubt it would be an issue.

Great minds think alike so they say.......
-
And Zander, instead of the ring on the shank how about one of those rubber stopper thingys? Thats what i call them. Like 360 rig fame, if you get me?? Very subtle and would do same job but be more discreet.
-
So far ive never been in a situation where ive felt this rig would be advantageous,i have other rigs i prefer. Although i do think that the 'proper' version ie a stiff boom and supple hair is FAR superior a presentation than a simple 'stripped back' coated braid, despite what some people suggest.

La Petite Martiniere Reports 2010 New 7th-11th Sep

Seasoned pike anglers pick them up by the jawbone all the time, and the Boga?? grip the guy is using is designed for such. -
Or if possible, the two rod trick...
-
Yeah, you would be amazed at how much a braid hooklink will move underwater, just with a fish swimming near it. If you really have a specific reason for it to be kicked away then use stiff material. Otherwise you could feather down, or hit the clip and 'bow' the rod with a PVA nugget on the hook like Nick suggests.

I use Foam a lot with Zigs and i attach it on a D with no ring for 'movement' as i think the fish take differently in the upper layers. Not only from a different angle but also a different approach so i like a beaked point. ESP Raptors are my choice, usually an 8/10.

What on earth is the Anchor Rig?

Anyone else heard the Scar has apparently hit 99lb Posted on another forum: "Just to update everyone on the recent capture of the Scar at 99 lbs... It was caught, and it did weigh in at 99 lbs...The scales are on their way to be verified at W&M..but I'm certain they are acurate. The fish has gained 8 lbs in weight since it's last capture 5 weeks ago, which can only be down to the fish taking on water just prior to spawning, which is part of the normal spawning process....I'm a bit concerned for the fish at the moment, and will feel a lot better once it has spawned successfully. Hopefully we will get to see it again fairly soon, back at it's normal spawned out weight, as it's in a very delicate condition at the moment, and we can't understand why it was even interested in feeding just prior to spawning. I doubt if there will be a record claim this time, as my mate caught it while I was taking a weeks break in the South of France, and he has no independant witness, just his family... The fishes condition is taken into account too...if it gets caught again at a similar weight then thats different....But it's his shout at the end of the day, so if he wants to claim it he can. But look on the bright side of it.....even though it was holding water, it shows the fish is capable of supporting such a weight, and happy to feed too! so could maybe achieve a similar regular weight one day....but I think it will take it a fair while to do that though to be honest. Ambrose Smith, the fella that caught it.....took a handfull of pictures and got it back as soon as possible, he was quite worried about dealing with the fish with out me being there, as he was aware of how close to spawning they were.... I'll ask a mate to post one up here so you can all have a look. Well done to Am' though...he caught the Scar and it weighed 99 lbs!...I understand it's a new PB for him. regards to all, Luke"

i have to say fantastic stuff. no more steaming i use it for my zigs as well, so easy to use doug Be careful with flourocarbon for Zigs, especially longish zigs and higher BS' because it will drag your foam/popup or whatever down over a period of time.
-
To be honest id only use illusion as a leader or as part of a stiff rig. If you must then Stretch it out to straighten. This reduces the BS but it does straighten it. Dont use the higher BS' for normal Knotless knot links or you will have the issues you mention. Try the lower strains or go with ESP ghost soft or IQ soft. And yes, with the higher Breaking strains a 2 turn blood will be fine.Blob the tag with a lighter aswell.

Caught my PB on a 10lb double strength hooklink. One fish will hammer it though so even if your hook is still sharp the link will need changing.

Another vote for the raptors

This is the second issue with Korda stuff ive heard of in the last couple of weeks, the first being the Hybrid soft. Apparently now they are telling us not to use loop knots with the soft and as such they are taking it off the market. I dont use the hooks so im not sure about them although it sounds like a cop out to me.

Has anyone thought of putting some putty on their rig tube?
138cgj replied to christoph22's topic in UK Rig Tying
Oh how i love the leader debate You should try the safezones -
I like it, actually in my earlier post i mentioned dropping leads?? This was on my 1st session on my new syndi. I knew when i lost a fish the lead set-up was to blame. Ill have a look at this for my bottom bait presentation next time out. As far as pop ups go the silt rig straight through was my other thought, but would you set it up the same? Normally i use a splicing needle and make new holes in the bead, this leaves the original holes to fill with putty to stop them lifting the line. I also thought about a heavy fluoro leader But using stop knots instead of the spliced beads, if that makes sense
