  1. Try Bainton at Stamford, might take a couple of years on the list to get in tho, search: Bainton Preadator on Google for the full info, cracking lakes.
  2. Didn't Terry Hearn name it that as it was designed to sit on top of the detritus (chod) on the lake bed? The difference between the chod and the helicopter was that the helicopter was mainly used with rig tubing and the rig sat quite close to the lead set up whereas the chod rig was initially set up on lead core and a fair distance (in comparison to the heli rig) from the lead, with the chod rig the lead was set up further away so as not to drag the rig down into the chod with the lead, with the helicopter set up the rig would quite often follow the lead into soft chod thereby masking it.
  3. From Adam's FB page: and Looks fairly certain. Anyone know anything about the lake?
  4. Just heard it's going day ticket from May, anyone know anything about it?
  5. Update: Membership is full for this year, you need to get in during Jan/March to be in with a shot. Contact Ivan to get your name on the list..........after mine!
  6. Location is just outside S(censored)horpe, near Messingham. 18 acres or so, fish to around 30lb. Very weedy in the summer and the rudd wipe you out if you use particles, they go to well over 4lb (the EA use them for breeding programmes they are so pure). Tench go to double figures, I had them to just over 10lb and there's a LOT of them. Eels to around 5lb, catfish (just the one tho) to mid 20s. Lake turns off around November and starts up around now. Cost is around £275 to £300 I think. Lake is set amongst woodland on one side, open heath land on the other, fenced and fairly safe, never saw anyone wandering around who shouldn't have been there. There's a chemical bog and a small portacabin. And I wish I'd never dropped off it. Might try and rejoin this year. Anything else?
  7. Looking for somewhere to fish for the year, dropped off the Manton syndi for a while. Any ideas? Could be day ticket but no daft rules please or maybe club. Syndi if it isn't too much £££.
  8. Bugga, would have been ideal for this year. Is Hykeham worth considering yet or is it still a scary inland sea devoid of anything carpy unless you can sit there for a week at a time?
  9. Does anyone know if it's still a CEMEX water? I can't find it on their season ticket list. Or am i just being fick?
  10. Only one I know of down that way but worth the effort to join. Don't expect to get in this year, probably best to aim for it long term.

  12. I assume that taking your gear to work and heading east isn't possible?
  13. Whereabouts in Carshalton, I used to live up near St Helier hospital! I was gonna suggest teyh CALPAC waters but you appear to have found them, I cut my teeth on the Stew Pond in Epsom, great fun. I only fished Manor Pond once so can't offer too much although I'd approach it as a silty venue now and look for hard/clear patches and fish on a tench unfriendly bait. I spent most of my time after Epsom at Farlows near lamgley. Only 45mins away so possibly a goer for you, I worked near there so weekends were ideal after work. There's a lake at Redhill, Old Philanthropic springs to mind. Also Gatton Manor near Dorking. Both are club type waters. On the day ticket front have a look at Bury Hill just outside Dorking, lovely lake with some cracking carp. Try fishing near the marginal lilies, Pepperami over trout pellest worked years ago for the carp, set up well back and keep the rods away from the edge of the lake, sit right back and keep quiet. There's some lakes up at Hampton Court in the park and also in Richmond Park but the Richmond lake is/was rock hard.
  14. "Too much beer"... Is that possible? One can is too much. I take Scotch.
  15. Not sure about Manor Pond being no nites, it always used to the case that once they knew you and were happy with your level of competence that you would be OK to nite it. Stew Pond used to but TBH I'd not hang around there at nite!
  16. I'd look at CEMEX, poss Wraysbury 2? Right on the doorstep so you could spend morte time there than travelling. Or what about CALPAC (Central Association of London and Provicial Angling Clubs). They have a water at Cobham (Manor Pond) and also the Stew Pond at Epsom.
  17. Not necessarily, bear in mind that 6 with 3 would only need 6 swims, 10 would need 10. The bankside disturbance with 10 on would be far greater too. The fish would get used to it eventually but you'd peobably find that the other anglers would get fed up with it. Maybe 12 anglers but on a week on - week off rota? If the stock is there then you could expect to fill it. Personally I'd not join a small lake like that but each to their own.
  18. Manton Syndicate near Scunny, we have a member from Durham so it's been done before. PM if you want more info.
  19. A1 pits, pit 2, 3 or 4. Fish to over 30 in 3 and 4, lots of other species too, 15 pegs on each. Not a runs water in the Southern sense of teh word but not úber hard either. But won't be easy in late march, still a lot of frost and it's been known to snow then too.
  20. BAA have pools and lakes too with carp to over 30lb. http://www.baa.uk.com/where_to_fish/default.php
  21. Too late for this year but do a search for Bainton Fisheries near Market Deeping. Membership only opens for newbies in May and is closed very soon after opening, you may need to try for a few years too but it's worth it in teh long run. More of a long term option than an instant syndi for you but worth keeping on at till you get in.
  22. Have to admit to not going near day tickets anymore, too many spongers, lowlifes and tackle thieves for me. I have a syndi and that does for me nicely. If I HAD to go to a day ticket now I'd insist on clean khazis, secure fencing and decent fish.
  23. Don't get me wrong, it's a cracking water, very deep and some lovely fish in a nice setting. But avoid the busy times, weekends, bank hols etc. Also if you book make sure you leave your phone number as they do sometimes get back to you if they are closing it (spawning etc). But they do sometimes over book. First time out i had a PB common, lovely fish, just a shame that they are so disorganised.
