  1. yes mate i'd send clear, coloured and shock leaders the same way its debatable wether education works, with some people yes, with others no, i'm of the opinion we should be protecting all of our fish now, not continually having to educate people who come into the sport education is a nice idea but how many fish will continually have to pay the price? people come and go from carp fishing all the time so rather than educate its easier and safer to just ban them
  2. as a general rule bini, don't tie the leadcore to your hooklink swivel if you do this, the fish tows the leadcore along with the hooklength and this just isn't acceptable in this day and age even if the lead gets lost it has to be a helicopter style setup to be safe, furthermore, if you splice leadcore don't splice it into a loop, splice it to your mainline with a needle knot, doing it this way enables any beads and your hooklink swivel to come away easier in the event of your mainline breaking to be honest, its far easier and safer not to use it
  3. your post really does frighten me david you really need to look a bit deeper into leadcore mate, the stuff just isn't safe for carp fishing its been banned on a lot of waters because people just can't tie it up safely. take a long hard look at your last statement in your first post, your mainline breaks but leadcore is much stronger etc etc. think about it, if your mainline breaks and you haven't set it up correctly that carp gets left towing the leadcore, if your rig is really poorly constructed it ends up towing the leadcore and your lead too how does the carp get free if the leadcore/lead snags up? the simple answer is it doesn't, it dies a slow and lingering death through starvation the only safe way to set up leadcore is to use a cv safety/helicopter rig, in the event of the mainline breaking the hooklength can slide off the leadcore and everything gets dumped, any other way of using leadcore is dangerous, safety clips and inline leads used with leadcore are potential death traps if i had my way it would be banned from every fishery in the country use tubing mate, the esp tubing is heavier than leadcore anyway so it pins the line better, you won't get any lifted scales with tubing and in the event of you mainline breaking you haven't got a fish towing round something it can't escape from if it gets stuck bini and his brother can't tell the difference in results so that should tell you its pretty pointless using it, its expensive, uneccesary and potentially dangerous so why take a risk using it
  4. i agree with your brother mate, sold to catch anglers just about sums it up nicely
  5. you won't see me mate, i'm already an ex-member i spent 7 years in the club and caught some cracking fish, i got bored though and thought it was time to move on you'll meet plenty of other northern monkeys on there though
  6. a stoke ticket would work out cheaper in the long run mate
  7. stoke on trent a.s have a water just outside chester mate, its called bolesworth castle and its just off the a41 bewtween broxton and chester its a lovely lake on a private estate and its stuffed full of fish joining stoke isn't cheap although you do get access to some of the biggest carp in the cheshire region if your prepared to travel to their other waters http://www.sotangling.com
  8. i guess the easiest way to stop the immigrants is to not pay the rip off prices fishery owners ask to fish for them;)
  9. not quite sure what to make of aussie carp coming over here....i know their regarded as vermin over there so it doesn't surprise me they want to sell them to the uk but who'd want to buy them? surely it would be cheaper for a lake owner to import from the eu rather than the other side of the world?
  10. slow down there fluff flinger....your references to wirral and club waters suggests that your post is aimed at me but the comments your replying to actually came from a fellow lancastrian mate;) nutbuster...burton mere is in the same category as pendle, over priced and not worth the money they ask for fishing it;) i've fished grey mist myself and i reckon its an ideal water for anyone coming into carp fishing and i know many an nw angler who started on there:D
  11. whats the story with the ossie carp mate? can't say i've heard this one?
  12. explaining credibility isn't easy in a few words mate! prior to 1994 big fish waters in the north west were quite rare and usually very difficult to fish, they were low stocked and the fish in them had taken quite a few years to reach a good size, these waters did and still do require a lot of dedication to fish and anything you catch is well and truly earned, even if its only a double! in 1994 our borders came down and free trade was allowed throughout europe, this has led to fishery owners importing large carp from the continent and creating overstocked instant big carp puddles. today, its now possible to just throw silly amounts of money at the owners of these places and sooner or later you'll get your big fish, theres very little skill in fishing these type of waters and amongst the general north west big fish scene no credibility is given to captures from these type of lakes;) of course there is another side to this, these fisheries bring big fish within easy reach of your average angler but its at a big cost to your pocket and in a lot of cases to your angling future. catching bigger and bigger carp is something people should aspire to do and having it handed to them on a plate so easily by these types of fishery is likely to mean more tackle in the for sale columns as people leave the sport for something else;)
  13. i think i'll pass on ringing them thanks mate! i'd rather sit amongst the dog walkers on the canal or stay on my club water dreaming than be taken for a mug;) better still i'll stick with my club card and have the chance to catch fish that are of equal size to those in pendle but without the credibility problems....lol:D
  14. somewhere a bit cheaper please! my club card is £85 for the year....or just under 5 nights on pendle:eek: £18 for 24hrs fishing is dayllight robbery mate!
