  1. my mate buys from ian carter and rates him highly😉 there is also mh leads based in warrington, they are on facebook, also Liverpool carp leads, they are on Instagram a lot, no idea if they have a facebook page but the leads look as good as anyone elses, lets be honest it's not easy to cock them up🙂lol
  2. a bit expensive but I like the haiths jumbo tigers😉
  3. a deeper is ideal for you then mate, I fish 6hrs a week usually on a Saturday afternoon, I have to fit in somewhere amongst bivvy anglers with far more time than me then try and nick a bite, with the odds stacked very much against me due to limited time, I grab any edge I can with both hands🙂
  4. I've got one, it's very handy, no point in flogging it with a marker rod when a deeper will give you so much more in a fraction of the time😉 I bought a dedicated little android tablet to go with mine so I don't have to use my phone plus I've got a slightly bigger screen to look at which is handy if you need reading glasses like me🙂
  5. thanks finchey, i'd like to think there's some useful stuff on there, i'm not the best at it, there's no crappy carp team stuff, endless plugging of gear or sponsorship begging 😉 I hate drum and bass so there's none of that and I fish alone and on limited time so they aren't very 'arty' either😁
  6. mine😁 lol, i'm not exactly great at it so I can always do with a few more subscribers😉 Mark Carp
  7. a 25 up here is a massive fish for sure, there are some up here but fish of that size require patience getting into the right clubs and/or time and dedication just to get on them, they are certainly catchable but getting a swim anywhere near them is usually very difficult, the one thing that stops everyone in their tracks is other anglers taking up bank space😉 this is pretty much how my Saturdays go, turn up, find the fish, can't get on them due to other anglers, I have a choice, fish a has been swim empty of fish and blank or try another venue, i'll never fish an empty swim so I move on, I can put in a lot of miles each week just looking for a peg that gives me a chance, sometimes I give up after my 4th or 5th water and end up back home again without even getting the rods out. This time of year is the worse for space, that's probably why I prefer winter and early spring same as bc😉 you definitely battle other anglers more than the fish and this is everywhere with decent fish including the ones with the high waiting times, if anything, they are worse!😉
  8. yes bc it's the same up here, we go to great lengths to keep our waters quiet and free from glory hunters or other anglers in general, outside of kent, I think the north west has the highest number of carp anglers in the country, sadly we don't have the waters and the ones with big fish, or even just a general higher than average size for the area, are generally rammed. finding some peace and quiet up here isn't easy and as you say, many tea bags are required before people open up, getting info is very much down to who you know and what kind of reputation you have...ie glory hunters get nothing.
  9. I don't know mate, you've heard more than I have?, I treat everything as fantasy until I see the pics with my own eyes, no pics, no proof😉 I know that sounds harsh but fisherman are well known for stretching the truth😁
  10. lymmvale, tabley moat, tabley mere and wrinehill are all definites 😉
  11. I use them for hanging the inner boxes on the outside one😉
  12. i'm with kevtaylor, i'm a 'torrix te' user myself and they are exceptional rods
  13. i use the jag hook sharpening system, only the vice and file though, no need for either of the stones, you can get your hook sharp enough without them
  14. good call, I leaned my casting by watching terry Edmonds and mark Hutchinson on youtube, I got a mate to film me then asked him and a few others to pick faults which over time I ironed out
  15. blakemere? http://www.blakemere-leisure.co.uk/
  16. I've been a few times but only in april/may and never in september, for what it's worth zigs have caught me fish every time I've been
  17. personally I don't fish commercials, the only day ticket waters I've been to recently are sandhurst and Cromwell, neither of which are local to the area, if you're going to pay day ticket rates you might as well head south, at least the waters down there offer 30's for the top dollar you pay, up here the prices charged compared to the size of fish available makes our commercials a complete rip off managing expectations is quite right, I'm Wirral based and I've fished in Cheshire since 1996, funnily enough I started travelling out there to catch bigger carp, 20's and possibly a 30?, in the 21 years since I started trying for one, I still haven't had a Cheshire 30, I fish a session near enough every week right throughout the year, my average over the years is around 3x20's a season, sometimes I have more, others i'll catch less but most of those 20's are under 23lb regarding expectations, catching a fish of 25lb+ in our region isn't impossible, some always get lucky but for most of us, a target like that requires time and dedication, the magazines might make it look an easy task but its far from it
  18. I've been fishing in Cheshire for many years, outside of the south east we have the biggest concentration of carp anglers in the country but we don't have many big fish waters, so the big fish waters that are known are often under intense pressure if you come across a little known water with good fish in, the quickest way to ruin it for yourself is to put it online because everyone up here is looking for a leg up...lol
  19. join lymm mate, they have a few waters with 30's in
  20. brooms cross is the only one that springs to mind for me and only because it has some decent sized fish, apart from the likes of wyreside, the only other place I can think of is commonwood near Wrexham?
  21. good luck mate, I've tried a few over the years, the best I've come up with so far is similar to harpz, I have an avid restbite which is a proper lay flat bed and the same as harpz I've tightened the elastics as far as I can and I use a pillow for head support, what I was trying to achieve was my head/neck being in alignment with my spine when i'm lying on my side and for it to be firm with no sagging the no sagging is really important, I even considered trying to put wooden slats under the matress at one point. if we had a bedchair that didn't rely on an elasticated matress and was solid underneath with no sagging at all and a nice comfy matress on top, I reckon the company that made it would be quids in
