  1. Some week ago I left my landing net (for fly fishing) at home. At the sunrise arrived at the lake, prepared my fly fish equipment and discovered the unique landing net Inthe car was a 42" (not good to take around a reservoir). Imagine a fly fisherman, with a 42" landing net inside a t-shirt. That was me 😂
  2. I usually use barbless hook if I'm using size 2/4/6, but if I use smaller hook, I'll choose barbed or micro-barbed. With small hooks is very easy to lose a big carp if isn't barbed
  3. I am thinking about replace my rods for a set of 3 daiwa black widow (50mm butt ring) from amazon, take a look https://www.amazon.co.uk/Daiwa-Black-Widow-2-75lb-Fishing/dp/B01N95Z7KA/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_2?keywords=Daiwa+New+G50+Black+Widow+Range+Set+of+3+Carp+Fishing+Rods&qid=1564762565&s=gateway&sr=8-2-fkmr1
  4. So probably the fish will keep the same habits some hours after the fire? I'll may investigate it next week
  5. Hello everyone ! Like the topic title, i am trying to understand how the fish behave after a forest fire. Probably you have heared about forest fires in Portugal (an huge problem every summer here) and this week, the lake where i am spending the most of my carp sessions was affected by it. There were no victims and the fire was extinguished 27 hour after the first ignition detected. The flames stopped in one of the margins of the lake what helped the fight againsty the flames. https://twitter.com/i/status/1154083874944638977 Does anyone of you have an idea of how the fish may behave after that?
  6. Waiting for those photos Is the same material? Awesome, i may have 20 stores in my city selling flip flops
  7. I thought on fluorocarbon because is "invisible" under water, but it's a sinking line, and i don't want to use zigs in the place of boilies Thanks for your help! I'll do a simple set-up for it. Running lead (between two bead stops) -> swivel -> an anti-tangle sleeve -> hooklink -> size 6 wide-gape hook -> bit of foam. Anything more?
  8. Thanks you all mates! Now i have some ideas to work with zigs, ready for my first attempt next week :) Unfortunately i can't find a place in Portugal to buy zig foam. I'll have to buy it from Amazon. Fluorocarbon is a good choice to use as hooklink?
  9. Thanks! I'll keep it for future my attempts with zigs :) You use it to create a "cloud" of food around the zig right?
  10. I have know idea about it 😕 I believe that is a question of mindset.
  11. Very simple Can i use pop-up for it? Or is better use zig foam?
  12. I don't know the amount of fish because it's a public reservoir. Unfortunately here in Portugal are many anglers who still have the tradition of catch & freeze instead catch & release I'm talking about the lake on the left, that little red point. Most anglers prefer to go to another lake near (less than 15km) because it's easier to fish there. I can tell you that the smallest carp i catched in the little one, was bigger that the bigger carp that i catched until today on the big lake.
  13. I'm waiting for my vacations to wet my lines again! Give me a little help, do you spod over zigs? I saw it on a video from Korda, but when i spod i'm trying to create a bed of food on the bottom of the lake. But i will use zigs to fish on upper layers of water, not the bottom...
  14. Look this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/YI-capture-ActionCam-touchscreen-smartphone/dp/B01I40DE6Y/ref=mp_s_a_1_13?keywords=yi+camera&qid=1562425618&s=gateway&sprefix=yi+camer&sr=8-13 In the link you'll find the yi camera that records 4k at 20 fps and 1080p at 60fps. I have a friend who has one of those (but the 4k at 60fps version) and it's a very good camera. Search for Lemos Fishing on YouTube to see some clips
  15. Thank you all for your replies. I'll try zig fishing for the first time next week! Wish me luck
  16. Did you ever tried french fries? 😂
  17. Thank you Golden Paws. I never fished this way, but I really want to try that technique.
  18. Hello! I didn't found any topic about zig fishing. So does anyone using zig? I want to try that approach but I know nothing about it. Let's talk about it?
  19. I'll try the helicopter rig on my next fishing trip. I've been use it to present pop-ups over grass, but i'll give a try with boilies. This new lake where i'm starting to fish has really clear waters, and the fish doesn't come to the margins. After some tests i'll post the results (and some big fish photos too, i hope)
  20. What are the best rigs to long cast? Usually I use braided hoolink, but even using an antitangle, sometimes when I recover I see that the hooklink is rolled in the main line, so I'm spending hours without a functional rig 😕
  21. Like everything in life, we need new challenges to keep focused. I love carp fishing, but is normal to get hours in the bank without that massive run that make us crazy. Sometimes I left my "heavy" equipment at some, and go to the lake with my fly rod. Is amazing fishing carp and some barbel with a so lightweight material.
