When you watch the Terry Hearn video Tunnel vision you understand how the man thinks, and it brought me round to my own situation. I never really seem to get feeding right, but when you do find the fish I think you can put TOO MUCH IN. Carp have this amazing sensory system when they can pick out a little caddis, it shows they could fish a few dozen bits of hemp if they wanted to. That with a few tigers or maize less than dozen seems the way to go, unless you are on a well stocked water. When I watch most anglers on a lake coming for a trip they always heap bait in, a kilo is nothing for a nights fishing. The match fishing in me says maybe I should just bait really lightly and just catch one fish. Then as the match guys do, top up with just a little again as mentioned above. Watching the video has opened up lots of thoughts for me, has it you? Some people think if you put a lot in over a decent area the fish will find it, but as we know they will also find a small amount too and maybe that would trigger less fear than a lot of bait they are use to now days?
Just an average carp guys thought.  Rich.

Thanks, I'm thinking of a water where in summer the fish love a floater. I expect the best days would be mild, and a bit windy. I'll give it a try maybe even bread crust could work, doubt these fish have seen bread for 30 years?  Thanks all, Rich.

He is gifted in many ways, wonderful video and one you ca watch over again.
I will say he has probably fished more than all of us together, and that means if you're smart you learn. Also catching lots of fish also makes you learn, you cannot learn much if you're not catching (like me most of the time) can you?

    Robert.
What I'll say having two sets, and several individual Scope rods is the playing action sold them to me long term. I use (as many others do) the 9' 3lb for floater fishing, so soft are the tips you can use small hooks down the size 12s I've found. While I've not had many big fish on mine, on Youtube one guy land an 83lb carp on his.
I love the packability of mine, and provided you take reasonable care setting them up, I cannot see any problems with telescopic rods.
I've a set of Scope 1.75lb 10' that are my favourite small carp, tench, big perch, chub, reservoir roach bream rods. Hooks down to size 16s or small river barbel with a size 6s. I think in a time to come these rods will become a bit of a cult.
I should also mention the looks too. I've a set on cork and one shrink tube. The black rings and reel fitting look really cool, if you could find a set that fit your budget (second hand) I doubt you will be dissatisfied?
    Good luck Dicky.

Dicky123 got a reaction from B.C. in connecting flourocarbon to mono mainline???
Surely a leader can be as short as a piece of leadcore? I'm thinking of using some instead of tubing, just a meter or so. With a semi fixed running lead I really cannot see any problems. Taking it to the worst scenario the fish has a meter of line, and hooklink attached. Fishing barbless as I do mostly it won't be around for long.  Explain the harm or difference, the line with any rig could break in any place?

Dicky123 got a reaction from Midlandcarper in How to catch a fish that won't eat bait?
I'd start at the beginning and count the fish numbers in the lake? How many are there? Say you only ever see 10 fish, then double that as an estimate. Twenty fish will not eat loads of bait and possibly they simply have too much food?  Just a guess and trying to find some answers for you.
If it is a case of too much food, then you may have to fish with something very tempting and visual, like a single bright bait IN THE RIGHT SPOT. Try stalking and watch the fishes reaction to your baits. Try a full days floater fishing walking round putting some baits on the wind and watch, then watch some more.
If it's not that, try all natural baits like worms, maggots, and such.  It's a start.
Most people seem to suggest different baits. I'd start with finding the fish, counting and watching them feed. That will be your starting point. Carp fishing is a marathon not a sprint.

Finally took the leap and bought a Daiwa DF. Have always used Daiwa so I', sure when it comes I'll be delighted with it. Saw a good Youtube review and it looks nice and understated too.
