  2. so first time out since september and managed a cheeky day session on local water, great start to the day as not only did my landing net snap on the first fish but also my bite alarm decided it would snap at the bracket so maybe some glue later might work but not convinced. new bite alarm turned up in the shape of this beautiful Robin just sitting on the rod for what seemed like ages despite all of that it was a wonderful feeling being bakside again and had a lovely time with a few very nice carp reckon all under 5lb, will also post up the awesome pic i got of a a carp photobombing my picture of ducks....

  3. Just so people know, I do often do 2 and 1 on single sticks. I do like the stability of a goalpost setup, but if one rod is better placed in another direction. The one on single sticks is over a mix of mashed bread, particles, crushed boilies, worms and molehill soil, while the two are being fished with stringers over boilies.

    Bait boat and deeper

Brilliant thanks, ive had a play and come up with this, i used a metal straw and 25lb mono through the middle, it seems to pull the deeper at a good angle where as just the mono would tilt the deeper. think I'll crimp a key ring loop to the back of the boat for quick change. might just stick with this if it works, do like saving me a few quid

    Bait boat and deeper

Made the 2 loops either end, drilled a hole through the hopper (with a small drill bit), just big en enough for the boom to go through, then I passed 1 loop though and then looped 1 loop through the other.... Green loop through the hole, pull the blue loop through the green loop (had the quick change swivel for the deeper) then I attached deeper and off I went, then when finished, removed it then used boat as needed for baiting and dropping rigs.

    Bait boat and deeper

I used my Deeper Pro with my Cheaper bait boat, I crimped both ends of about 2ft of 35lb Korda Boom, 1 end had a quick change swivel on to attach to the deeper mount, the other end went through a hole (small) I made in the rear hopper, and I towed it along.

    Opinions on rig

Don't be worried by inturned kickers, 'closed' gape or line aligners, I think that has become a buzzword for missed indication or for using the wrong rig for the feeding situation. I.e. some carp suck and blow, others pick items up, it can be spot dependant in a water, or it can even be individual fish If you look at a Withy pool rig there is absolutely no 'open gape' at all, yet it is effective. The front of the hook, the eye, the inner of the tubing is what causes hooking or pri cks in the mouth. To have the line exiting the back flips the hook out bend and shank first. It will work with fish that pick up hookbaits and the hook pri cks the lip, but not suckers and blowers.
