As much as I like kamakuras kranks especially, I've had too many turn over, probably from nuisance fish or something, but enough to give me doubts, I've bought some more J precision hooks this year advanced wide gapes and his gape x hooks, not used them yet but they are sharp for unsharpened hooks and look strong and the wide gapes will do everything else I need

Buy one at 50 then do the side hussle to get 350 lol

Oh yes the Korda kamacuras turn black on the tips overnight if you don’t give them some sort of treatment they are all I have used for the last couple years. The fact that this stuff stops the hooks from rusting is fantastic don’t get me wrong. it’s just the fact that the carp will never get to eat a bait which also has this smell to it and not at least get pricked. How long it might take for them to work it out I could not say but if they are known to get wary of bright pop ups between spring and summer whats to say they won’t get wary of this pungent scent thanks everyone for there input

That nice pad was 350 years old and needed a lot of work. Much smaller modern place now with definitely NO swimming pool to keep looking after. 🙂 Yes "tinker" is a good expression for me. I get a lot of stick and derision at some of my ideas but nevertheless have still appeared on Tomorrow's World and the Californian equivalent. I have posted my idea for the perfect carp rig with a boilie on the main line and no hair and been told a million reasons why it won't work. Meanwhile I continue to hit every bite. C'est la vie.
