hook size and 18 mm baits

what hook size would best suit a 18 mm bait?? With a size 8 would the hair need to be longer?

I tend to use size 8 and size 6's for almost every single bait size.

 

The best thing to do is play around and see where the fish are being hooked, (have a look at Hair lengths threads) and then change things accordingly.

i think the bigger the bait the longer the hair needed

When i am tying my hair rig, i have my bait next to me, so i can measure it out and see how long i need to make the hair, i usually have a small gap between my bait and the shank. Thats the way i like it.

 

I use size Korda Size 6's and i use 16mm pelet.

id say a size 6 with a decent gap between boilie and hook

i'd go for a size 7, esp big t's!!!
