Big Hooks

Maybe a personal thing but I never go below a 6 now and usually have a 4 on

I usually match the size of hook to the size of bait; many disagree, each to their own; but in my world it makes sense - especially with a bare hook near your bait - to have the bait being the main visual thing.

I'm often bewildered by some of the rigs people use and catch fish on, but as with bait - the proof is in the pudding (catching).

If they're having it I do step up to a larger hook as I think it gives a better hook hold in frantic behaviour.

I like a big hook with a small bait 

Hair length has to be tweaked endlessly in my opinion

And hook pattern matters LOADS in my experience, has to be tweaked loads as well in my experience

95% of the time I'm using a size 4. Might go down to a 6 if using a pop up.

There's so much silt on the bottom of the lake, I very much doubt they can make them out.

Same  as ianain match the size of the hook to the size of the boilie.

size 4 all the time. Normally with a 15/16mm pop up. Hook more fish, land more fish. Even when surface fishing my bread crust has a big size 4 in it.

This winter I am toying with the idea of dropping to 6s with 12mm pop ups though...

Pretty much exactly the same as me.

The only time I'll go down to a six is if I'm using a single piece of corn on the method.
