Rod holdall

Recommended Posts

On the search for a new rod holdall. Ideally holding 3 made up rods. I have a budget of around £60 and don't want anything to bulky but offers good protection.

I quite like the look of this avid one...

Anybody use this one? Or have a similar recommendation.

Something similar, I use the Fox FX 3 rod sling. Perfect for what I wanted. Lightweight, well padded, holds 3 rods made up, and a landing net on the outside pocket.

If you don't need to take Spod / Marker on a regular basis, these are the type of rod bags i would recommend. More protection than a quiver, lighter than an ordinary 3 up 3 down.

I've got the Chub Vantage 3 rod plus. Comes with 3 individual sleeves and you can buy extras. They can vary from 11.6 ft to 12.6ft rods. (Get them asap if you go for this and want them) It will take a maximum of 5. Well made and each rod is very well protected.

I've got my 3 rods, a spod rod and a float rod all made up plus my brolly system.

Very nice bit of kit. Not sure how much longer they'll be doing it for. They released both this an the 5 star system back in 2013, so will probably be looking to replace it in the next year or 2.

Is it fashion or planned obsolesence?

i got the daiwa black widow rod bag, its an entry level bag that you can pick up for under £30. it will take 3 made up rods and hold a further 3 rods, has a really nice padded sleeve to stop the rods rubbing together, 2 large pockets that hold loads, i carry my bank sticks, distance sticks, landing net and pole and a weighing tripod with room to spare. made from a really thick material and heavy duty zips,  proper bargain.

I have a Fox holdall myself, takes 3 made up rods, and the landing net in the central pocket. It also straps into my bivvy bag, so making it a full system.
