coops_northants
So guys what do you think of stiff hairs... i am looking at different ways to present baits and found good results in mono hooklinks, maybe because of the stiffer hair. i like the idea of stiff rigs on occassion but not normally with a stiff hair. What are your guys experiences with stiff hairs and the best rigs to use for the presenting baits on a stiff hair.
beanz
mono ,stiff??? its not what id class as stiff ,more inbetween. fluorocarbon in 15lb or above is as stiff as iv ever done ,but not recently as im strictly limp braids now all the way through on a few fish which wernt more than 16lb the stiff hair made the hook twist in the lip causeing unessersary damage. well i think it was the stiff hair or hook in scissors on limp rigs its 99% in bottom lip bang in the middle ,but this have been bigger fish .so size of mouth could be effecting things . but with nearly everyone using coated braid or fluoro ,and just the simpleness of braid , i dont think i could go back. the only thing i add is a lenght of shrink tube at loop end to stop it tangling if im on single. but if using pva i dont il have to find the thread you did a while back coops about this . im sure i was praising stiff rigs back then
salokcinnodrog
Had a couple of Lost fish with a Stiff Hair on 15lb Amnesia, continuation of the Hooklink and a Knotless Knot. Think it was me being lazy and not bothering to tie a D-rig set-up for a Snowman presentation. I prefer a Supple hair with a Stiff rig set up, so I tend to use 4lb Mono or Hair Braid with Stiff Rigs
