Hi Mate,

Welcome to the forum :D

What is a good rig to use anywhere?

It comes down to what works for you. I have used pretty much the same rigs for over 15years and still catch on them!

If you look at the rigs Sticky at the top of the page there are a few pics and a how to tie basic rigs

in this situation i tend to use the smallest lead i can get aeay with, slack lines and suchlike. its personal preference at the end of the day though. if they are that close, i would also consider float fshing or stalking, its that more thrilling as well...

Very true!

If you can camouflage your rigs so that all you can see is the bait then the rig is more likely to get picked up.

You then have to have a Good Hooking Arrangement. It may mean that you "Strike" into the fish rather than relying on "Self hooking rigs", but it can be a lot more effective than not knowing if you have had a Pick-up or not.

hey mate,

like all the others said use a very small lead because when the carp gets a hold of the rig if it feels any tesion it will run for the the nearest snag.

also make sure all your rigs are neat and tidy and little bigs can make the difference between a catch and a blank

Also use natural bate or the fish like maggots or worm becuase if you use your watercraft knowledge you will know that on the lake all the big carp would be in the silt seaching for the natural baits so try to use some normal things eg maggots, corn, worms or meat ok mate hope that helps
