  1. No problem mate. While all these little bits and pieces add up cost wise, it's helping me out in a way. My daughter Liddy is always "borrowing" bits and pieces off of me, and her boyfriend Tom has just started up carp fishing. I have bought them both new rig wallets for Christmas, which have small click boxes in them for odds and ends. I've loaded them both up with various swivels, connectors, bait stops, some pre-tied rigs, baiting needles, hooks, forceps etc. all the little "nick nacks" that you find you need during a session. Should be much nicer than just being given an empty rig wallet on Christmas morning!!
  2. Certainly going to give that a try. It's not like there is going to be any strain on the bait screw as it's only to hold the bait in place. I have some lovely little size 20 swivels which would work a treat. Why do I think that those thinking angler ones leaves the bait looking like it's sucking a dummy???!!!! lol!
  3. Just to add (as it was too late to edit). Found another ebay seller with them in stock (apparently) so ordered a pack from him together with a pack of the thinking anglers ones as well. All these 4 quids here and there don't half add up at the end of the month.....
  4. I didn't get them in the end.... Package arrived yesterday, opened it up and they had sent me two packs of standard bait screws, of which I have loads already!! I contacted them to say they had made a mistake, they apologised and refunded me immediately, but confirmed that they don't actually have the swiveled version in stock. Back to the drawing board.
  5. I ordered two packs 'cos they are difficult to track down. Seem perfect for what I want although the screw might be a little long at 18mm. I can take a pair of wire cutters to those though.
  6. No problem BC. Taska do what I wanted, courtesy of a link from Cyborx earlier. Have just ordered a couple of packs.
  7. I've been using coated braid for the last 2 or 3 years for my hook lengths, but am now thinking about going back to using either mono or fluro. I might tie a few rigs using the left over DPF line that I have. It's fluro coated, and if it's as invisible as Wychwood claim, will be the perfect solution to an age old problem. Knots well, sinks well. Got to be worth a try, surely????
  8. Running leads are all I ever use. Unless I'm freelining.
  9. Thanks for that geezer. Just ordered a couple of packs of the taska ones.... perfect!!
  10. You haven't got a link have you B.C? Just carried out an extensive search and can find bait screws with rings attached but none with swivels...Thanks mate.
  11. Like Yonny, I very rarely alter the length of my hair. If I'm using a slightly larger bait than usual I'll use a hair extender bait stop to help keep the same separation between bait and hook. The only thing I'm not happy about with this German rig is having to attach my bait to a micro swivel..... I'd much rather be using an eyed bait screw but then I'm not going to get the same free movement of my bait.
  12. Well I've just tied my first German rig... everything went ok. Funny thing was that when I held it over my steaming kettle to shrink the tubing, I'm sure I heard a little voice squealing "nein, nein, nein". It then went very quiet.
  13. I like to keep my hooklengths to 8" or under. I have a Korda rig safe that will only take 8" hooklengths
  14. I've just got to hope that the carp I meet up with are troughing it like a load of hungry Germans.....
  15. I'm going over to using wafters a lot more so fancy giving this "German Rig" a try as it seems to offer decent presentation and slightly less chance of tangles for a slower sinking bait over my usual blowback rig. Plus it's easy to tie, and with the line going straight to the swivel attached to the hook will be a lot easier to freeline if necessary (with the correct weight of hook).
  16. Amen to that! German rigs, Ronnie rigs, Seesaw rigs....... add a different type of bait screw and let's call it a Bertie rig. Just tie a hook on the end of your line, freeline a lump of luncheon meat, a worm, some sweetcorn or a lump of breadflake into the margins at first light, tighten up a tad and watch your line where it enters the water. No rig mechanics and will fool the wariest of carp.

  18. Ronnie Rig??? Ronnie Rig?????? I'm knocking up some German rigs.
  19. Well obviously muggas (), the old Ace razorpoints, Korda kranks and esp raptors are pretty good.
  20. I have got a few of the cryogenics but only barbless. They are fine
  21. Thanks for the kind offer CF but I'm not in any particular hurry so can wait until I see some appear somewhere. I won't be going fishing much over the coming months, I was just going to tie a few new rigs over the coming weeks ready to try out in the Spring. Thanks for the tip Crusian. I may well do that, but I'm also finding the Covert Dark range difficult to track down in size 6. I have ordered some 4's and have also ordered some size 4 & 6 in "Carp Spirit" hooks which are the old Ace Razorpoints.... another very good hook. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/232109741885?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&var=531308013451&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  22. Looking to stock up with some hooks and trying to find Covert Mugga's in barbed flavour. Plenty of size 8's, 10's and smaller sizes around but trying to find 4's and 6's (especially 6's) is like looking for a needle in a haystack!! Is there a world shortage?????
  23. I'm only two years behind him but manage the 5.5 hour drive down no problem. With a nice lake and the thought of catching some right old lumps waiting for him, I bet you'd be surprised what he could cope with..... The drive back home seems a lot longer though (but doesn't it always)..
