  1. I've got the Fox one, ansd I'd agree, it is very bulky. That put me off using it. I'll keep a look out for the Nash one.
  2. Got to agree with Beza. Just reading that post made my head hurt.
  3. Fair point, that's one hell of a growth rate. I suppose if you catch it at excatly the right moment, full of spawn it could do it any year, but the old girl does seem to have levelled off recently.
  4. Do you really reckon there's a chance it might beat the Romanian fish one day?
  5. Do you think it will get bigger? I thought it had been dropping in weight over the last year or so.
  6. A lot of people reckon Korda hooks aren't sharp enough. Personally I'd try Fox Arma Points, but like someone else saidf, you've got to make one change at a time, or you won't know what the problem was.
  7. Check out the Gardner Suspender Controller. They look a bit funny but they work a treat. In my humble opinion, they give the best floater presentation possible.
  8. Nice one, thanks. I'm taking it to read on my French trip in a couple of weeks, although hopefully I'll be too busy reeling in monsters to read all of it.
  9. Oh dear Gary, now you've gone and spoiled a lovely thread.
  10. A Passion for Angling is the greatest angling program of all time, and will never be bettered. Catching The Impossible I would probably rate second, although I do love the original Go Fishing series with JW. When I was a kid, I used to sit in front of the TV making notes during Go Fishing. I'd then try out what I'd seen next time I went. It didn't always go well but it was a massive part of my early fishing learning. How long before someone mentions you know what or you know who?
  11. I'm just about to start reading it, and wondered what everyone thought. Has anyone ever read the book, and does it have any relevance to modern angling?
  12. Would you say it's the best Carp fishing book you've read?
  13. There's always a danger of losing corn or maize to small fish, so if I'm ever fishing it on the hair I use one peice of real and one peice of fake. That way, even if you lose the real peice, you're still fishing.
  14. Has any bloke actually read it?
  15. Looks interesting. Have you fished it yet?
  16. But if one fails they all have to get sent back together anyway by the looks of it exactly the point...why would I want to be without alarms completely because one head failed....I dont have that with any other alarm....its just design for designs sake...no practical thought involved Look like a load of rubbish. They'll be inventing the square wheel next. korda already have the patent on it...its for their new "workout barrow" Korda Boooo!

  18. Well, if they're anything like the G2s I'd stay well clear. I bought a set of G2s a few months ago, and they're rubbish. Every single time there's heavy'ish rain they just totally pack up. I've gone back to using my old Fox Ultrons. Currently saving up for Delks.
  19. If it had only happened to the one at 40 yards, I'd make you right, but it also happened to the one I flicked under a tree by my own margins. I actually had dreams on Friday night about massive PB Carp shaking their heads and ejecting my hooks. I'm going back tomorrow or Wednesday night to try the new ideas and exorcise those dreams.
  20. That would be great if you could, thanks.
  21. About 7-8 inches I think, although I don't actually measure them. Just an idea, Why don't you make the hooklink twice as long and tie a loop at the opposite end to the hook. Thread the loop through the eye of your swivel, and pull the loop down towards the hook, so now the hooklink is doubled up, push the hook through the loop and pull down an inch or so,tie a piece of pva round both bits of hooklink and tie another pice of pva by the swivel. When the pva dissolve's the loop is now free to travel up the hooklink until it hits the swivel, the hooklink might just be enough to make the fish panic and bolt giving you the best of both a running rig as well as a bolt rig. Just an idea i used many years ago, Can't really visualise that sitting on the train, but will try to recreate it in the shed tomorrow, see how it hangs. Cheers
  22. One was in my own margins and the other was at about 40 yards. Sorry but why are you using a Heli rig for close range work, as it is designed as a long range rig and has no benefit at close range? Because it's safest way of using leadcore, and when using it with pva mesh it never tangles.
