Hi All, just wanted to know how these lakes are fishing at the moment? Ivy, East, West, Runcton etc. Most of the rumours about the Chi pits are made up to keep people away, but i think there were a couple of genuine incidents a couple of years ago. Wanted to know if there has been any actual trouble down there lately?

Thanks Tony, I'll check out The Chi club. I had heard that some anglers there had had some trouble while fishing nights, but that might just be gossip, or people trying to put off new members. Wouldn't be the first time.

Hi All, I'm based in Brighton and want to join a proper club. Sussex is a little light on these, apart from The Sussex Piscatorial Society, and to be honest, it would be easier to get into Fort Knox. So, seeing as I don’t mind doing a few miles, I was thinking of joining either Farnham, roughly 65 miles North West, Portsmouth 45 miles west or Mid Kent, 50 miles north east. Was wondering which of these people would recommend, or maybe other suggestions?

Thanks, Looks like a bit of midweek experimentation at a local runs water might be in order. So, if I was using a submerged float, what distance would you have between hook and float. Someone said 30cm, but that’s like a ruler length. I would have thought with that short length it might spook the fish?

Would I definitely need a submerged float? In my slightly confused mind i was thinking of just using floating line and setting it up as you would with a marker float.

I always use PVA mesh with helicopter rigs, in fact, I wouldn’t use them without. Obviously there’s no point in sticking the lead, hook link and everything into a PVA bag, but I find that a bit of PVA mesh stuffed with a few tasty offerings, attached to the hook, stops any danger of the rig tangling when casting, and puts a little pile of bait right where you want it.
