  1. so is shivering a result of soap dodging???? yes, if you see someone shivering then dont go near them as they will have a rather strong smell around them
  2. I think the amount of clothing you have on dont make a big difference compared to wearing clean clothes...
  3. the trakker i bought about 6 years ago and it was already very worn back then. but the jrc i bought brand new and it says 5 season but still isnt warm enough in cold temps. i just dont understand it!!!! im really worried to buy another in case its not good enough and then i would have wasted money. You may have bad blood circulation like me so even when your all warped up in a bag you will still feel the cold. invest in a bedchair cover as that will give you a extra layer of warmth and also make up a flask of hot tea/coffee/soup and when your feeling really cold have a cup of it, will help alot. what soooooooo many people dont realise is that a lot of the time you get cold because of the thinness of the bed and the cold air underneath you, a decent padded bed or even a piece of carpet under your bed will usually help big time Oh i know the cold floor can contribute which is why i put in my first post to put the tackle bags you dont need under the bed cause they act as a barrier between the cold floor and your bed

  5. Im quite surprised that the jrc or the tracker bags dont keep you warm especially if they are 5 season but bags will lose there thermal proprieties over time so if they are both quite old then that could be why. For a new sleeping bag, you have two options. First is to buy a bag made by a tackle company, probably the most comfortable since they will normally have straps on them to attach them to the bedchair so you dont have to struggle to get out when you have a bite. I personally use a the Total fishing gear 5 season bag and has done me well in very cold temps as i use it for camping as well. They also do a beefed up version which is even warmer. the second option is to buy a sleeping bag from a dedicated camping company which will just be a normal sleeping bag but you will find they have been designed with very cold temps in mind. Plus you could look into getting a bedchair cover which will help keep you warm in the colder months. other things you can do to keep warm is have a clean set of clothes to change into when your getting ready to get in the bag. These will be dry so will keep you much warmer, since sweat will stay on your clothes and get cold which will make you cold. Put your unneeded tackle bags under your bedchair and this will help keep the cold air from the floor coming onto your bed. and take a blanket, This will give you a extra layer of warmth.
  6. For a bottom bait, if i could only use one rig for the rest of my life then it would be a standard hair rig with a knotless knot. Its ideal for plenty of situations and i reckon that its very under fished at many busy waters. As for a pop up, id properly go with either a chod set up or a zig style set up, both are great to present baits.
  7. I use both and dont have a problem with either really. I do generally use my own rigs but i always have a couple of packets of ready made rigs in all my fishing bags/boxes. Also i have a range of rigs tied already in my rig wallet that are designed for different situations so i dont have to tie them on the bank, though i still do if the situation calls for it. I know my lakes that i fish so generally know what im going to need before i get there.
  8. I never have used leadcore or any leader in my fishing and have never had any problems. I have thought about using them many times but just cant think of a good enough reason so i dont. i sometimes use tubing to pin the line on the bottom but thats about it. i prefer using zig rigs in the weed if im honest.
  9. you do both of the ways i tie my bags/mesh mate. Another way to tie mesh is just to do a overhand knot once you have filled and compacted your bait in the tube.
  10. i just use a piece of cardboard and wrap the zig around it. on the cardboard i write the length and breaking strain of line i used. Very cheap and effective
  11. what i find weird about the picture is that you seem to pin the rig at both ends, how come you dont use the bar for the hook out of interest? i generally have around 10-15 rigs tied up at anyone time and re tie them every few sessions
  12. ouch That reminds me of the time when me, my dad, my dads mate and his grandson went fishing, now my dads mate had only got back into fishing and only just started carp fishing and about half way through the day, the grandson came over to me and my dad and said my granddad wants to see you...once we went over, we had found that he had put a baiting needle through his thumb, one of the barbed harpoon looking type ones, what he had done was instead of drilling out a bollie, he thought he could just push it straight through since he had seen me doing it with a soft bollie and he had hard bollies, so off to the hospital he went with my dad while me and the grandson carried on fishing and pulled out about 9 carp between us
  13. ah okay, i can see coated braid being a problem but normal braid i always thought it would rot eventually.
  14. whilst i agree with this there is a lake that has banned all braid including hooklinks AND marker rods see it the other day on a forum i sometimes go on lol How come they had ban braided hooklinks/marker set ups? the place i fish has a rule about no braid as mainline or on a spod set up but can be used as a hooklink or marker set up. weird rule i know
  15. it seems unlikely that they would ban all braid, it would probably just be using braid as a mainline. But Flurocarbon is a great hooklink material, i use braid and flurocarbon and i find both work
  16. I use between 6inch - 12 inch hooklinks depending on the venue and i find that around 6 or 8inch is enough of a length for solid bags. also to answer your question about the lead, How small is the lake? and how far do you generally cast? but i would personally use a in line lead either way because it also helps hooking the fish as well.
  17. half tucked blood knot...
