  1. Whilst on the way to an expensive and long waited for holiday do you want to put this to the test. Yes you could also use another vehicle but if stopped your details will be on the system so they might get you that way. Is it worth ruining a holiday to gain a bit of time. Unlike the UK the French police will seize your vehicle and will want full payment before release as well as the fees for taking it away and impounding it.

if your nice to them they will give you a map to the cash machine confiscate your passport, driving licience and all you car reg documents and let you go get the money for them :twisted::)

  2. The fines are good value for money though. I got a £80 fine for doing a speed that would get you a three year ban in this country. I joked with policeman as I paid the fine- "So you want me to slow down now?" he shrugged his shoulders smiled and said "Not really, next time I just fine you more", wished me a safe journey and took me back onto the motorway.

For the most part you won't see a policeman on the roads. I did probably ten trips over a 5 or 6 years until I even saw a motorway copper.

They seem to have a run on busy tourist times (like when the le mans is on) on Saturday mornings as all the english sprint up to the coast. If you see some coppers on the motorways- then you'll see them every 10 miles.

If you speed on the toll roads- they can work out your ave. speed too and do you on the exit tolls. If you have a long stretch on a toll road; a ten minute stop at a motorway service station will bring your ave speed down. Allegedly.

 same as mate i said to the one that pulled me "next time meet me at calais when i arrive and i will pay in advance" he laughed and said "you call me for fast track ticket":shock::D i got 75 euros for doing 125mph :? i personally think its beer money for em but i wasn't going to argue

  3. thanks chaps, am looking for a quiet lake where i can winkle a few 20's. sounds good, but i heard from a mate that CAPS is going up tp £90 for a yr plus £40 for nights, £130???? thats a big hike from last years price aint it??? unless i was misinformed!!

your mate is nearly correct £93 adult ticket £40 night ticket , still good value for money when you have the choice of 17 still waters the chance of numorous 40's lots of 30's and loads and loads of 20's all for 37p a day !

not to mention some very nice sections of river !

    so it's £133 a season now?

it will be come renewal time !

  4. Thanks for the info!Any of you have any idea about the number plate with GB on it or will i need a sticker?

you will not need a GB sticker if you have it already on your number plate,

and you now need a high viz jacket for all passengers in your car / van just get as many jackets as you have seats. you never know !!

also fire extinquisher is required as are the deflectors !

and another thing the tolls will only accept euros and it may pay to have a good 100 plus to hand in your wallet as fines for speeding etc are expected to be paid on the spot ( trust me on that one)

  6. As already stated the bottom is a bit up and down! we did have a big problem with weed in their a few years backs and the club has spent alot of time having it removed. we did loose a couple of fish last year mainly due to lack of oxygen but work has been carried out so it shouldn't be a problem any more.

it's normally very quiet up their as the track puts alot of people off although you may experience some noise from the local kids on friday nights messing about in the fields behind. their are some lovely looking fish in their upto the upper 20lb mark.

register yourself on the official forum and ask a few questions you never know someone may help you out a bit more

    All the best

    Dan

  7. what a load of old tosh, when did that rig in the pictures suddenly become named as a litter rig lol,:roll::roll:

also i wouldn't see this as a particularly effictive rig fished over debris as stated a nice supple hooklink would be a much better option !!

right time to get the rig wallet out and start re naming all those rigs in their, might throw a few into the patent office for good measure :roll::roll::roll::roll::roll:

  8. you could head north and get a Cambridge FPAS ticket

http://cambridge-fpas.co.uk/ for about 25 quid i think gives you a fair choice of waters within 30-45 mins drive as well as some good bits of the Cam. their are also a couple of waters around Saffron Walden that may interest you hear http://www.saffronwaldenac.btik.com/p_Venues.ikml

clavering is ok i think lots of stories of huge fish that never ever seem to make an apperance on the bank but i am sure you will get a bend in the rod their! i personally haven't fished their for years but have chatted about the place in the pub and seems it does attract a few noddy's.

alos just found this on a google search not to far away

  9. Hi Dan

Did you get over to E'Tang DesCampus ?

Just wondering how you got on as we have booked the lake for June 2011

    Keith

    Hi Keith,

yes we did go, we went in March this year.

It started raining as we arrived and continued to rain for the following week only stopping for a few hours in total

As we pulled up the owner and his wife were still their finishing off the new lodge. which they had done a cracking job on.

We didn't stay in the lodge and opted for the bivvy just using the lodge for hot showers breakfast & dinner !

we had around 35-40 fish between the 3 of us over the week but we were not really fishing during the days as it was more of a social trip i think the biggest that came out was only 26lb but we had a good crack all the same.

take some lighter tackle with you as u can have a good laugh catching little stockies from their smaller lake.

All in all it was a good trip a good laugh with good facilities and a very pretty little lake. the swim closest the lodge did the most fish of the week fishing along the margins under the willows then the second most productive was the other end.

any more specific question give me a shout, enjoy !

  10. Nice,

The biggest for me in New Mexico and current PB is a 33.14 from Las Cruces. As soon sa I can figer out how to post a pic I will do so.

I am planning on going up to Caballo dam this weekend, maybe hitting a large hole about 4 miles below called Jones Hole. Said to hold monster cats so should hold some nice carp. If you would like to see some of the fish that we have caught go to www.tresfloresbait.com

Thanks for the reply, very good website btw. I have caught bigger than the fish in the pic, the biggest was over 20lb but without scales I dont know for sure. The best spot I have right now is a dam on the river at Algodones that holds some big carp, could be a 30lb fish there for sure.

I am just getting going again I fished carp in the UK before I moved here but I am starting from scratch right now. I hope to have better tackle by next year and will be trying some other waters come the spring.

I have been fishing sweetcorn mainly but end up catching a lot of cats and suckers besides the carp I want. I think next season boilies may be the way to go a larger more carp specific bait will hopefully get better results and aviod other fish.

Good to know there are some serious carp fishers in NM, where abouts are you maybe we can meet up next season.

    all the best Terence

i think next season one of these could be the way to go for you fella http://shop.carp.com/fox-elite-unhooking-mat

  11. I am not ignoring you vinyl... just been racking my brains.

Most lake with pools & accomodation are in the central & south of France which is a much longer drive from Calais.

Of course unless someone knows different?

Thank you Mrs Rusheslake, i was kind of hoping you would know of somewhere, if somewhere does come to mind though please do let me know :) maybe we will have to look at driving a little further down south or throw in a slightly longer ferry journey to get what we are after (or is required by the powers that be) :)

Carpnovice, i did have a brief look on anglinglines website mainly because they have a good search facility that helps you narrow down what you want, but to be honest what i did see didn't really inspire me to much. i will keep looking though

Cheers all and dont be afraid to PM me if you know of a little Gem that suits our needs but dont want to share you secret with the world.:wink::lol:

  12. Hi all,

    i am after some suggestions,

Next year myself and a friend have agreed to take our other halfs and his kids away on one of our European fishing trips.

We have both fished abroad alot for a number of years but this will be the first time we take our partners and children.

What we are looking for is a pretty venue with good stocks of fish to a decent size, with facilities to keep kids and partners entertained swimming pool is pretty much essential, lake exclusive is a must and somewhere there is some good local activities as well canoeing on the river that sort of thing and we would prefer not to break the 4 1/2 hours drive from calais but would consider it if it was worth it.

Self catering accomodation would be good as well to allow us the flexability to come and go as we please and choose to fish when we like.

does anybody know of anywhere that fits the above or is close

    many thanks

    Dan

  13. tbh i was in caps for 2 years and jacked it with 7 other mates because of the agro and attitude from other members. joined it twice first time 9 years ago and left for the same reason rejoined couple years ago thinking it would have changed and boy was i wrong. great waters if you can handle the grief that comes with a club with over 2500 members. rubbish bullying and fights

i have never in the last Ten years as a member and two as a bailiff experienced any form of fights or bullying on any CAPS waters, maybe i have just been lucky but on a day to day basis the members i speak to generally are polite and civil.

its a shame you and your friends have had such bad experiences on CAPS waters as you are right we do have some very special waters but some of the quieter less crowded waters are still very special too!

I hope that you give it another chance again one day.

As for the Stour their are definatly some lovely strecthes with some stunning fish but on a hot summers evening it's hard to top a walk down the stour @ Nayland and finish the evening off in the Pub sitting by the river !! :D:D:D:wink:

  14. Thanks for all the help, gotta get a new reel as well so thinking I'll load that one up with some Korda Adrenaline. The sensor brown does coil up and keep it's memory quite a lot! It's a bit like a slinky after casting!

get yourself a gardner line twist lead for a quid or so and give it two three cast, start of about 25-30yds, wind it in then 50yds then further. this should remove all that slinky like memory !

  15. To ensure that the presentation is at its best, you must use it in conjunction with a slow-sinking hook bait. This can either be a purpose-made, neutrally-balanced hook bait or a pop-up anchored by placing a split shot on the hair. you could use a bottom bait but you would be best to try and critically balance it with some cork or zig foam !

    Tight Lines
