  5. try using felt marker pen on your shot mate but for me its krystonite heavy metal putty, stay clear from some of the cheaper puttys as i find they are brittle especially when it gets colder, hope this is of help sime
  6. i use them to mate but i find the black ones a bit shinny so i scuff them up a bit mwit fine sandpaper, good hook though
  7. have a look around mate, i tend to keep away from some of the dearer products in the terminal tackle department [ sorry mr korda] tend to lean to products that are reasonably priced work well, and most important for me is safe to use, just keep asking and people on here will usually be obliging all the best
  8. ive been using atomic products jellie wire jaxx v v nice, as for shrink tubing on the hook when you place your short section onto your hook shank leave a bit over the eye of your hook, say about10mm, then boil your kettle hold onto your hook AT THE HOOKS BEND WITH PLIERS, when the kettle is at its peak pass your hook over the steam and slightly apply pressure at the hooklenght material end, putting a slight bend to your tubing, this will turn the hook in the carp's mouth on the take, BE CAREFUL OF YOUR FINGERS WHEN USING THE KETTLE as for your lead set up, i would still use the set up your using however i think your tail rubber is way way to tight on the lead clip, what i do is do away with the tail rubber and just carefully slice a tiny piece of the tail rubber off the widest part of the tail rubber, then it just looks like a little rubber washer roll this simply over your lead clip, and when you get a run the clip will discharge your lead far more easily, hope this helps. sime
  9. is it solar that do a up and down mix
  10. i used to splice my leadcore as well jules and when you return the outer leadcore back on itself i used to superglue that as well, one day i was tying on a piece of lead core and i passed the mainline through the loop in the normal way, i tied my normal grinner knot moistned the knot and slid it down trimmed the knot then i tested the strength by pulling, and yes you guessed it the leadcore just snapped after that ive never used another piece of leadcore in the bin it went, as for these days i use the jrc tungsten tubing, or direct to the rig, via mono

  16. hi members, just got back from a 48hr session and had 8 carp up to 14lb and a snotter, my question is how can i employ a i.q hooklength with a supple hair of say braid? whilst i was up a tree looking over my baited area in the margins it was only about two feet deep and i could clearly see the fish and my hookbait, dont panic members i was only two seconds from my rods, as i watched fascinated as some lovely big fish came into my baited area and literally stoped 6 inch from my hookbait and started wafting there pecs over my baited area, i am convinced that my hookbait was'nt behaveing correctly and made them suss it, now i know a lot of you will say use braid straight through, but i like i.q hooklength and i was wondering if there is anyway i could use the two materials,i was thinking of tying a 9inch length of i.q with a grinner knot but i am unable to suss a way of fixing the supple braid to the hook tryied rig glue but it dont hold, any ideas boys/girls would be very greatful sime
  17. I can only say practise practise & practise, try tying the knot on cheap mono i'st then move onto your preferd hooklength material, good luck pal
