  1. What rigs were you using 2 years ago? if they worked then, they will work now.
  2. Brilliant read as usual. Hurry up with the next instalment, I'm sittimg in my bivvy, I've just finished my book and need something to read
  3. I use the bore rings also, quick and easy, but I know a lot of people buy ready made chod rigs, so using the bore rings is not an option. Tie the ring on with some bait floss Now, why didn't I think of that
  4. I use the bore rings also, quick and easy, but I know a lot of people buy ready made chod rigs, so using the bore rings is not an option.
  5. Where abouts on the barracks is the lake, is it near the road and was I right about the long waiting list? sorry to hear you blanked.
  6. Don't know much about it but heard they had a problem with otters. Apparently it's meant to be quite weedy, but that shouldn't be so much of a problem this time of the year. I would be interested to know how you get on, as I don't live to far away, but I think they have a 8 year waiting list. I went to an offices summer ball there years ago which was one of the best nights out I have ever had
  7. A brilliant read and a fantastic session.
  8. Come on Neil, hurry up with the next installment, I wanna go to bed
  9. Great write up, makes me want to go back to Spain fishing. Was hoping to go this year myself but with several other trips planned it's looking unlikely Did you use Vital baits?
  10. Congrats on the PB. Looks like a stunning place.
  11. It's difficult to say what the average catch rate is as on Orellana it's so big, 37km long I've known people to go for a week or more and blank, others who have hauled in a weekend. The best thing to do is get your self a guide even if it's to point you in the right direction. Night fishing used to be illegal,I think now you can night fish if you have a quide who has a license. We used to bivvy up and keep a low profile, fortunately we were never caught. Big beds of baits always worked well, particles, boilies, pellets and tigers. The last time I was there I met a Spanish guy who was Sponsered by Mainline and he had taken 200kg of boilies for a long weekend
  12. I used to fish the Extramadura area when I lived in Portugal. It's probably got some of the best fishing in Europe with waters like Orellana, Sierra Brava and the Guadiana river. If your lucky enough to hook in to a Comizo Barbel it will be a fight you will never forget. All the fish I have caught from the area are in pristine condition and fight for there lives. The mirror in my profile picture was caught in Orellana.
  13. I would be up for it Doug/Dan. We will have to have a chat about it next month at Cromwell
  14. Welcome to the forum Shaun. A ticket for a water that holds 40's without much of a waiting list, that's a big ask.you may have to lower your sights or be prepared to go on a waiting list.
  15. Well done. Sounds like a nice place.
  16. Nice one Bill. Must admit though I nearly fell asleep while you were looking for the hole in the bag Why the whispering?
  17. As far as bait is concerned I would keep simple use plastic maize fished over normal. Santa Clara is a massive massive reservoir ( you would need a week to walk around it) finding a good spot is the the key as it is so big. Holds mirror carp and Bass. For me the best times fishing in Portugal are June and September as these months are hot but not unbearable like July and August. I f you want any more info about fishing any other places in that area PM me.
  18. Hi Steve Your timing could not of been worse. It is closed season here in Portugal from the 15th of March to the 15th of May. There is only one private water to fish in Portugal, it is called Lagoa da Alfarofia but if you are a match angler it won't be suitable, as you could wait a week for a run. If your dates change or you want any more info, PM me, as I do most of my fishing in The Alentejo region.
