  1. I'm not disagreeing with you i just think there is alot better hooklink materials out there
  2. have you not been steaming it to tension it up and straighten it up proper mate?? its coated in flouro and needs the heat to hold it straight once out. Yes mate i have, but that does'nt make it any stronger it just straightens it out, yeah I know mate, never said it made it stronger, just that it does without doubt make it a better hooklink Oh i see, it's still jank though IMO

  4. I have also had it snap on me when testing knots How can steaming it make it a better/stronger hooklink? i just dont use it anymore i would prefer to not take the risk
  5. Willowcroft Fishery, Wisbech St. Mary Telephone: 01945 585105 Have you had that one yet
  6. I can say luckily, I have never had a problem with lead clips but if i'm fishing a weedy or abit of a snaggy area i will trim the length of the lead clip down and only just push the tail rubber on quite often aswell the lead will discharge as it hit the water not that i want it to but it just goes to show you that they will pull off in the event of a breakage
  7. Well they both have the same surname so i would presume they are married
  8. There's a lake in Wychnor (staffordshire) that you can catch the carp with grass every cast an inch away from the bank Come to think of it i caught on a plain hook there aswell takes abit longer for the bites but still caught
  9. The lead clips are not suppose to pull of the swivel it holds tight so the lead is discharged if it becomes snagged these are the new korda hybrid lead clips where the swivel is permantly attached into it but if you want something that will pull free try looking at the fox safety run rigs
  10. These are the most common one's i use ESP Striptease Kryston Snake bite green and gold Sufix super skin in brown, although the outer coating does slip backwards when tying knots I have used korda hybrid but had it brake on me a couple of times when testing knots so dont use it anymore
  11. The withy pool rig The half withy pool rig
  12. Charnwood water has some good tench, bream, roach in it but like kevtaylor said dont exspect 2 many carp if any at all Theres a lake near sileby on the way out, as you go under the A46 its on your right its called lower lakes good runs water carp and cats in it iv had carp just under 20lb The problem i found with wigston was that the pegs were unsafe, the whole of the bank was like a public toilet, the railway bridge was a killer but when i went the ballif did say they were putting it back to syndicate and a drive was being put in from the farm at the back of the lakes
  13. I did 1 session on there with my nephew, never to return
  14. Frisby pits thats got some good carp, pike, zander in about £40 a year theres 2 lakes and different strecthes of the river wreake and river eye
  15. its attenborough reserve you need to have a look at mate, the big ghostie was in there but was moved into river with floodwater a few years ago. 500+ acres and plenty of features. lovely lovely water, and if memory serves me right go on with a good food bait and high doseage of honey in each mix Yeh the ghostie is in that stretch of the trent but above the weir where the soar joins.
  16. Also use www.flashearth.com (full world coverage) its free and easy to use it sometimes shows up gravel bars big snags etc depending on what time of day the pics were taken CARPINGOD150 SORRY FOR TAKING OVER YOUR POST
  17. Location: Snags is always a good start and straights after big bends seem to be good places (in between two bends the longer the straight the better) like iv said walking and spotting fish is the best way, asking local match anglers and carpers if there willing to give you any info and in the local tackle shops for location. Rigs are just standerd knotless knot rigs nothing fancy Have you got any stretches in mind as i might be able to help with location
  18. Back leading is a must on the boat sections, pre-baiting isnt always neccesry i have done just as good over non pre-baited areas, unless you know where you are fishing go light tackled surface fishing can be awsome on the river but takes a bit longer to get the feeding (i have had 11 of the top in 1 session but took about 2 hours of feeding before i even saw a carp (i was nighting aswell) keep rigs simple most carp in rivers have not seen hooks, line etc. spend as much time as you can walking the river looking for the fish invest in a good pair of polarised glasses. is there anything in particular you would like to know Where abouts are you if you dont mind me asking
  19. It's controlled by soar valley angling and it's about £35 for the year. Some of the best spots are upstream of coats mill area on the straight, anywhere from the railway bridge (near where the canal joins the river) down to zouch, the bomb hole, three corner field (thats a different ticket and ran by the PAC Club about a £10ner) and the deep's iv had them to 21lb 9oz but there is bigger the biggest iv seen come out was a 27lb and oz on bread crust where the canal joins, the commons seem to avarage the 20lb mark and the mirrors about 15lb but there is loads of them and dont get fished for that much you can get tickets from Bennets of mountsorrel if you want any more info not a prob
  20. Fish the river sour there is plenty of biiiiig carp in there and there is also somewhere local that has a ghost carp 40lb+ that has featured in many mags fished for by many top anglers (not sure if its ever been featured at 40+) and is only £45 for the year with plenty of "normal" carp to
  21. Cant offer any advice but welcome to the forum mate
  22. Korda attachment, i think your on about a bolt rig this works by having a rig with a swivel attached at the end and can be pulled into the korda saftey clips when the fish picks up the bait it will feel the resitance of the lead and (bolt) hooking itself in the process. If the line breaks the lead will pull free from the safty clip just leaving the rig. Death rig this is a term when people put (normally a weight) either side of the lead (instead of useing a rig with swivel and buffer bead) this in tern makes it a bolt rig but if the line breaks the carp will be left trailing the lot around with it which can snag and kill the fish but if you use a rig with swivel and buffer bead this is a free running rig the differance between the two. bolt rig you dont need to strike just lift into the fish. free running rig you will normally need to strike into the fish. not sure if this makes any sense or what you wanted to know
