  1. Sounds like a good place for a chod rig to me, or maybe a hinged stiff rig If you can find the depth of the weed, by looking in the margins, then alter the length of the rig so it sits just above the weed This is how I like to fish, then catty 10-20 boilies around it, in an area roughly the size of a garage door
  2. Fair point TBH, but I've got new ones now
  3. It would be easier to defend myself with a different avatar
  4. Personal fetish?
  5. That's gonna open up the barbed v barbless can'o'worms now I'm all for barbed BTW, but most blinkered fishery managers cannot see whats best for the fish
  6. Yeah, people seem to have this preconcieved idea that its the spinning of the rig that does the damage, when in fact, if damage is caused at all, it is mostly to do with the hook pattern. A normal rig tied with this style of hook (lets say fox series 5) would still do damage if its played the same way as with the 360 rig I know a lot of people would disagree about the damage, I think it's Levisgp who has posted before about his views on this, it's actually in the other thread on the 360 rig
  7. Yep, although a lot of people will disagree, this is the general concensus on the rig
  8. Try the search mate, a thread has come up recently on that. But TBH if you're not sure how to use it, I wouldn't use it at all. Ask yourself, do you really need to use it in your fishing situation, it has been known to cause unnecessary damage to the Carp's mouth
  9. Mantis, the original and still the best
  10. But Goblin, I'm sure you're not an idiot, and would be able to use leadcore safely, so how come you don't use it? Or do you not see the benefits over tubing?
  11. Don't get Nick started on tubing V leadcore, seriously... And anyway, leadcore is heavier!
  12. how do u find this sort of thing out???? Saw an advert somewhere Yeah I saw that, this month's ACF
  13. I think the problem is, you thought the braid/leader skin was a hooklink material? If so, it's not, have a look on the website I posted before
  14. No, just normal shrink tubing as the line aligner http://www.rigmarole.co.uk/products.htm The braid/leader skin goes parallel to the shank of the hook, between the ring on the shank, and the eye of the hook. It's tricky to explain, but if you look in CARPology this month, it's in there
  15. That's why you use the rigmarole leader skin, it's just like reallt thin shrink tubing
  16. TBH my favourite bottom bait rig is fairly simple. Long shank hook, fished blowback style, with a length of Rigmarole's Braid/Leader skin between the eye of the hook and the ring on the shank(to reset the hair if the rig is ejected), using Mantis(lovely stuff) and shrink tubing to turn the hook quicker. Nails 'em square in t'bottom lip! If you don't get the gist, it's in CARPology this month, but I was using it for a while before then, got a mate whos 'in the know '
  17. OK, each to their own I guess, I just prefer helicopters We'll agree to disagree. Anyway, back to lead clips...
  18. Ah OK, thought the bead was a weak link. I rarely use lead clips myself now, prefer helicopter rigs TBH When fishing in weedy waters though, using inlines, what if thelead gets snagged when playing a fish, and also, with running rigs, the fish could be free to move, but the lead would stay motionless if it was snagged?
  19. Because, it was a while ago, when I was just starting out, and the lead clip is recommended for beginners, so I followed the crowd. I use helicopter rigs now, with a weak link of 3lb mono tied to the lead On your set up, how would the lead discharge?
  20. I've used the ESP ones for ages, and if you want the lead to eject, they're great, but every time, when you'r playing a fish, even in open water, the lead will discharge. I wouldn't mind, but it as a runs water, so I was getting 9/10 fish a day, and it started to get expensive I wouldn't mind, but they were only 5-10lbs, so, I guess it depends how you use them. For times where you get fish rarely, and it's snaggy, so you need the lead to eject, I highly recommend them, but for runs waters, I'd go for the Korda ones probably
  21. But on your photobucket album, there's no picture of the rig
  22. Ah, jumped the gun a bit, thought he meant chod rigs And I spent ages on that aswell
  23. It works on virtually any lake bed, as long as the weed isn't too thick, the idea is that the pop up makes it float above the 'chod'(hence the name) or general detritus on the bottom. It's an awesome rig for light weed, but I wouldn't recommend it in the heavy stuff, the lead tends to get snagged. It was originally the 'silt rig' for fishing over silt, and first tied with braid, to sit on top of the silt. You can alter the length of it, for the depth or amound of chod you're wanting to fish over, the more chod there is, the longer the rig you want. Also, try to put a slight curve in the hooklink, to enhance the hooking effect. It, actually is a very effective single hookbait rig, even in situations it wasn't designed for, eg, clean bottoms and over gravel etc, as it doesn't tangle, and, it seems to be a rig that's hard for the fish to eject. If you want to increase he hooking potential, try adding a tiny 1in boom section, before the hooking section, so it looks like a very short hinged stiff rig, then use putty on the hooking section swivel to weight it down. The hookholds seem to be better, as the rig seems to fly up into the mouth more, because there is more flexibility
  24. Go on then, spill the beans...
  25. Now, as it's coming up to winter I've just started more fishing with single hookbaits, ie, hinged stiff rigs and chod rigs, but I was wondering, can you use Amnesia for Chod rigs etc? I've been using clear 20lb Amnesia, but all the mags seem to suggest using ESP Bristlefilament? I would have thought it was just advertising, but they use Amnesia for the boom section?
