  1. Didn't realise it'd come up as censored, I just meant hook
  2. I've found that the fish tend to snatch at pop ups, the hook holds are just inside the mouths, so this may advocate a bolt rig, so they pr1ck the fish quicker. I'd use a bottom bait for running rigs, they tend to just suck the bait up, rather than snatching, so the hook will be further back in the mouth, so it's harder to eject, so that's why I'd use bottom baits with running rigs Just personal experience though, your lake could be completely different...
  3. I use the Grinner for mono, braid and fluoro, never had a knot snap when tightening the knot, or on a fish. I think Korda do recommend the palomar for Hybrid
  4. Yeah but, when I'm fishing, the kettle has more often than not just boiled, I like my tea
  5. Mantis Gold Mantis Gold Mantis Gold Mantis Gold Mantis Gold Mantis Gold Mantis Gold Mantis Gold Mantis Gold Mantis Gold Mantis Gold Mantis Gold Mantis Gold Mantis Gold And Sufix Black silt sometimes
  6. Yep, I do like to be fiddling about with rigs when I can't be angling
  7. Yeah, thought I should
  8. I just end up making them when I'm bored at home and can't go fishing, hence why I've tried to cram about 40 or so in a standard Trakker rig board
  9. Hmmmmm.... tempting
  10. Every one I've ever seen is clear plastic, with a blue tint
  11. But it'sblue, how would it be an edge? And anyway, it'd have to be completely full of water, no air in it at all, otherwise it'd float
  12. Yes i can see your thinking here so who knows? Lets be honest, the only way any of us are gonna know how our leaders look on the bottom is to don a pair of flippers and air tanks and dive down to actually look at them ourselves. Which has to be said i would love to do. Have swum free over Leaders and compared the differences between that and tubing. Its a long time ago, but the results are somewhere in the forum. Think it was on a Ladcore vs Tubing debate. Also Fluorocarbon leaders at some light levels are still visible. I think that is mentioned on the Colour Vision thread. *leadcore*. I was going to edit the original typo , but just think that Ladcore is a good word I wasn't gonna mention it
  13. I know, it' be such an edge, and you could swim with your rig, place it on that 5 in square gravel spot, lay out the hooklink nicely, cover up the lead with some weed or gravel...Oh, I'm drooling at the though! And when you're not diving, you'd know what coulour tubing to use, which hooklink blends in best, if the hookpoint is getting snagged up
  14. Yeah, me too, there was a guy on here a while ago who used to dive, and look at his rigs, you'd learn so much from it! The Rob Hughes series in Carpology is good, he dives and takes loads of pics of his rigs and how they sit on the deck
  15. But, I'm fishing with a fluouro leader, so if all the stuff about light refraction is true, this will be less unobtrusive than the mainline, even if it is sitting up off the bottom
  16. Good point Tony, but surely, if the leader was off the bottom, then the mainline would be off the bottom aswell, because unless you're using a fluoro mainline the leader will be more dense, so sink better than the mainline anyway?Of course, I may be wrong
  17. I've actually just set up one of my rods with a fluoro leader, but, I've used a rodlength of fluoro, my thought being the more of it there is, the more subtle the end set up will be. I know what you're thinking, that'll be expensive, but I found a spool of the rigmarole flurocarbon that I got at a show, they were doing 3 spools for £10 The only problem I can think of, is the abrasion resistance, if fishing snaggy lakes fluoro might not be the best
  18. Its not the casting, I just never seem to catch fish on them
  19. I'm the same Tony, never caught on a zig, and its not through lack of trying either, I just cant see why the fish would want to take the bait suspended mid-water, even if it is a high attract type bait
  20. I'm trying to decide whether Triggalink is a genuine edge, or just another gimmick, I think I'll have to get some to try it out, as it seems like a good idea in principle A similar rig is printed in this months CARPology, and from the Nash website, their suggestion is using it with a combilink of 1 in of armourbraid to the hook
  21. Ah, fair point, I didnt think of that
  22. Does doing this not run the risk of pulling scales of the fish on the fight, I always use some form of leadcore or tubing myself
  23. Yeah, I like to use a pretty stiff fluorocarbon with it, so the pop up is only just lifted, because it is bending the hooklink
  24. Think I know what you mean, it's like a normal rig, but with a huuuuge loop to attatch to the swivel?
  25. Sounds like a good place for a chod rig to me, or maybe a hinged stiff rig If you can find the depth of the weed, by looking in the margins, then alter the length of the rig so it sits just above the weed This is how I like to fish, then catty 10-20 boilies around it, in an area roughly the size of a garage door
