  1. Yeah was thinking about scrapping using the sleeves altogether. And that was the problem I had before, the tubing would fly up the line on the cast, as it wasn't 'gripped' by the bead. I've had problems when fishing over a little weed, that the eye of the big eyed swivel gets clogged up.
  2. I use 2-3ft of the fox tungston tubing. Very heavy and supple enough to lay on the bottom. I fish that in conjunction with slack lines.
  3. Yeah I'm using them swivels, but using tubing also...Maybe i'm just being paranoid! I was thinking maybe the bigger diameter plastic ones (like what Jez posted) would run more freely?
  4. Fenboy....this is exactly what I use. It looks very neat and tidy, I'm just worrying myself recently, that the swivel isn't big enough, and it provides more resistance than I would like? What do you think?
  5. Hey Parapat.... I'll be seeing you in June Saturday June 13th is the start of my trip...Really exicited and looking forward to it!! TBH, I thought it was a pretty good deal for the Full Package £550 for Transport from UK, and food, and fishing!! Roll on June!
  6. What about threading a PVA bag onto the rig? Stick mix etc...This is where they come in handy
  7. Is it basically a vegetable chopper, with the Korda logo stamped onto it, and then the price raised?
  8. Someone has been watching the Korda DVD's!! I use the Fox kwik change swivels and sleeves, as find they are more 'tidy' than using a korda one.
  9. Well....how you get on?
  10. The above quote was taken from: http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=31293&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 Am I still harsh Dave? OI! Stop trying to steal my job as forum detective!
  11. Why would you need 25lb!! Just get the 15!
  12. If it was me, I would be tempted to take all...Lets be honest, if they don't sell particles at the lake, you wont be able to use them if you don't take them yourself! Be prepared for every eventuality! If the lakes never been fished before, would the fish know what a boilie is? Or are these Farmed fish? i.e. Pellet fed? It could pay to fish only particles...maize on the hair over a bed of particles?? Or the fish may readily take boilies?? I wouldn't want to be caught out because I didn't have something with me!!
  13. I'm off here in June....let us know how you get / got on Cheers Matt
  14. Certainly agree with this... The palomar knot is my favorite. Very easy to do, and doesn't seem to cause damage to the line, like some of the others do - even when wet! Figure of eight knot for loops on the end of hooklength. And the occasional grinner chucked in for good measure
  15. Agreed....didn't even watch 10 seconds! You will never get a very good video recorded all by yourself...Wait until you get the proper camera, then get a mate to help you. Record it a couple of times, and then add the good bits all together, remember to have the audio from just one video continuously playing - otherwise it will be really obvious that it is a cut and paste jobbie - expecially if there is background noise. Then when you come to a tricky part, like knots, have a close up video. It may take a couple of trys to get it right tho.
  16. You fish it in a combi - so its not going to the hook you plankton !! Ahhhh That makes sense!!
  17. My mate has a spool of it in 15lb... It took us ages to get it through the eye twice as its thicker than normal braid!
  18. It seems to me Kingfisher that you have come on here aiming comments at Nick to try and get him to bite?
  19. Actually, they are all made of stach, not PVA...edible also if you get hungry. Have a look onto the auction sites...'biodegradable void filler' All companies sell pretty much the same stuff, fox, solar, gardner etc. I bought 15cubic feet for about £20 including postage. Enough to last me a live time!! I have actually re-sold the stuff on there as nuggetts for fishing. I made ~£150 profit for half of the bag, selling in lots of 100!! I got bored of doing it tho, so gave up! I still have tonnes left over in my garage. Always good to have a decent supply to fill up my container before I go. I did a few tests in the bath with coated braid, and most of the time it did kick the bait away. Not perfect, but then again, when a fish moves over the bottom, it would naturally waft the debris and your hook bait around. So you can never be sure that your rig is lying in a good position all the time once the fish move in. How can you be sure that fish don't take baits lying on top of your lead?? When feeding, carp dont pick up food off the bottom with their lips, they suck it in, so would they even feel the lead, unless they where tight to the bottom???
  20. Sounds like one of those chinese finger traps
  21. How about a bigger one??
  22. i used to have it but can't find it now I have myself a lovely 100mm macro lens, i'll see what kind of results i can get. Won't go buying loads of packs of hooks unless i can get good shots of them first
  23. That maybe the case but the carps eyesight gets worse in winter, so they kind of balance things out. No need to scale down. Staying with 6s and 8s. I'm scalling down to 8's
  24. My favorite winter rig?? The same as in the summer... The water on my lake is starting to become clearer now, so I will need to scale down soon.
  25. Violence is not the way to do things mate
