  1. Sorry this has gone off topic but I feel I must reply. I note you copied and posted my reply but did not do the same for the post on the thread and therefore posted incorrectly and somewhat misleading. ..........” a chance of thirty if possible, about 3 hours from calais” Not within 3 hours as you wrote. To be honest when I made that post I read it wrong I did not see the “,” between “possible” and “about” and there is no space between the “,” and “about”. I read it “if possible about 3 hours from Calais” I took this to meaning he was open for other options. In fact it was only you drawing my attention and I looked up the post I noticed my mistake
  2. I dont want to sound rude being a venue owner myself but what is the point of posting details about a venue that is further than the 2 hours MAX from the named port the poster asked for? It just fills the thread up with unwanted info but thats just my opinion. Some forums the replies would be deleted
  3. Sorry this is a complete myth although it come up all the time.
  4. Your EHIC (card) Get it from here it gives you health treatment while in the EU But its not a replacement for insurance http://www.ehic.org/?gclid=CNGw8L-D3Z4CFUgA4wodXRNkIw
  5. Hi guys, it was good meeting you and pleased you all enjoyed your short stay. Hope to see you again next year in the summer when the weather will be kinder to you. Wow did it rain and its still raining with high winds off and on. You did well to catch and you all kept at it. EDIT Bounty 1
  6. How old is your son? Also pm sent John
  7. lol well you would say that as you own it !!!! Getting a long weekend at this time of the season is not so easy as most venues will be booking up with weekly anglers.
  8. Sorry if it came across as a bit blunt it was not aimed at you just a general post offering advice.
  9. When going to any venue always talk to the bailiff on arrival as advice given this week\month might not be working at the time of your visit. It always amazes me the number of guys that either don’t ask or when they do ask they don’t try what the bailiff has advised thinking they know better and then struggle to catch blaming the swim and anything else apart from how he is fishing.
  10. Maybe if you named the venue then more help could be offered by members who have fish it. Take all you driving docs including reg doc Route then either google maps or Mitchelin which I think give toll prices
  11. you have a pm
  12. As many of you will be setting off to France just thought I would post some important info. You must have High Viz Vests 1 for every passenger and they must be inside the vehicle where you can get at them not tucked away (hang over seats so they can be seen is a good idea). You must carry a Red Warning Triangle. (On the spot heavy fines if you don’t comply with the above, about 90 euro for each offence). Docs to carry. Driving licence Vehicle Registration doc Hire doc (if any) Insurance doc If you fully comp cover for the UK then it also covers you for the EU HOWEVER check it covers you fully comp most are just 3rd party. If you have borrowed the vehicle then a letter from the owner stating he has given you permission to use and drive the vehicle Break Down cover unless you speak very good French. Most Sat Navs work well in France but many don’t so print off your route and know the major towns you are heading for. Toll Roads Remember to carry coins or a credit card for the un maned pay booths, they don’t take debit cards. Speed on Motorways is 130k and 110k when wet. Unwritten rule wet is when you have to use wipers. Driving penalties are much higher in France and if you are stopped DON’T be rude and come over cocky, a sure way of getting booked, French police wont take it so be polite,
  13. I own 50% of a French venue so when I go fishing to another venue it has to be something special and I can tell you L’étourneau is something very special. I have known Dan for many years long before he bought the venue. 7 of us went last year on my recommendation and they all loved it apart from the rain that did not stop till the Saturday morning when we packed up. Its an easy water with plenty of fish to be caught up to and over 50lb ers. Its also a very lovely lake surrounded by woods so its very peaceful. I say lake but there are 3 not that any of us fished the other 2 lakes but you can as its all part of the package. Dan is a great host so he will set you right and tackle hire is free, fly out and he will pick you up. Book and enjoy
  14. Think you might strugle to find a place for £130 for 4 days unless someone on her knows of a place plus most take weekly bookings
  15. I have a problem because replying to your post could be seen as me plugging our venue. Its you being suspicious and we have not cut our prices, if you read the post you are referring to you would know it was a special offer and not a price cut, we never spam forums. All popular forums suffer the same problem, guys tend NOT to either do a search or look through the threads to see if their question has already been asked. John
  16. Hi If you look further down you will find a thread on Bounty John
  17. The best thing is go on the web site and give me a ring, the number can be found on the web site and its a free call. Do you have a dads and lads booking? We have double swims so no problem sharing a swim with your son. Basically a fixed rig is where a fish cannot loose the weight if you snap off, the on site bailiff can advise you when you get there. Micro barb hooks is correct, (being changed to Only Micro for Carp) The rules have been re-typed but yes no nuts John
  18. Hi This might help its about Lac Desire but if you have not booked already you might find it hard as they are nearly fully booked up. http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=38730 John
  19. No sorry I cant but there was 10 of us and we are had fish and all on differnt baits.
  20. Yes fished it 2 seasons ago. Without doubt the best social venue you can find as you all fish off a horseshoe island. Well stocked with excellent facilities and you will be well looked after by the owners Andy and his better Half Marie. You will have a great trip what more can I say John
  21. Like most French venues just fish the same was you would fish in the UK, same rigs etc. The best advise I can give is when you get there talk to the bailiff he will know whats working etc. I am always surprised at the number of visitors we get who never ask and the number who can’t wait to dump in 25k of feed in thinking that’s the way to fish in France. As for the colour of the boilies, well red, brown, dark brown, nearly black ones, dark red ones lol
  22. We will have a freezer for anglers to keep there own frozen bait in. 1 rule that were introduced last year but the managers did not enforced, only our own feed will be allowed this season. The other new rule is only frozen boilies will be allowed, no shelf life.
  23. Cannot understand why the showers were cold, did you report it to the bailiff? There should have been 24 hours hot water! We are adding another one this year making a total of 4 unisex showers in the log cabins, + the ladies only shower and toilet also adding urinals and more wash-basins Well they are not cold now, the water that is, last week it was -15 when I was there and 4” of snow and both lakes were frozen, I walked across them lol
  24. I take it you are sharing a swim. Anyway all swims will produce fish. Use the same rigs you use in the UK
  25. Glad you enjoyed your trip dukeboy998, A lot of changes are being made for this year. The channels are being blocked off and the end bank is being dug out to make another lake, B3 which will be a social lake for up to 4 all fishing close together on a horseshoe island. 3 tonne of fish are on order and we expect delivery end of Jan. The U is being blocked off on B1 to stop the fishing holding up in there. Toilets on B1 as well as weigh posts on all swims and the swims are being re-built and some re-positioned. New managers are taking over they are a very experienced couple having managed a French venue for over 3 years, he is also a chef. John
