Its clay bottom most fish type baits produce. Use Bounty Party Mix say 2 buckets spread out and keep topping it up. If using 3 rods fish 1 right on top the 2 others on the edges. John

I think I am right in saying you are a member of a few forums so why not do what I did and post asking if anyone wants to join you on a trip. It worked for me. Thats if you want someone to go with

We do a special deal the fishing is £25 per person per week providing you take the winter food package. pm me if you require any further info. If the lakes are frozen then we give a full refund on the fishing but let you know before you set off. John

Do Not Fish an open French water without getting a licence first. You will need to get 1 before you fish. Most tackle shops sell them in France
-
As from the 1st July it is compulsory to carry a fluorescent jacket and a triangle in your vehicle in France. A jacket for every passenger. Fines are:- 90 euros PER ITEM, so four up and no triangle is 450 euros Jackets can be sleeveless

All the reports I have seen have been very good and a few of my mates are returning in April and they would not be going unless the venue was good Hope that helps

Driving abroad for the first time can be a bit daunting. But really as long as you keep out the major cities it is very easy, only a pity our road system is not as good. Yes you drive on the other side of the road so you use your other wing mirror but there is no need to rush and on the whole the roads are empty and you can get to most places using the excellent motorway system. Driving in France is a pleasure.

I am no Cat expert far from it but I fish for them the same as I do for Carp and it works for me but I do tend to have more of a slack line when fishing for Cats. Many of my mates use live baits I am not into live baiting well also I cant be bothed to catch the live baits lol Hope that is of help and when you hook a big one hold on tight and make sure your drag is set right as you will need it lol. Back winding is a no when big Cats run unles you want a broken finger. See my other posting http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=31552

I use large pellets 21 or 25mm hair rig 4\5 on the hair. Many use live baits its what you are happy with. I fish over a handful of 21mm and feed.
-
For Cats that size really you need 3.5 under 3 you just wont be able to stop them depending on the venue. If it has snags then no chance or island for them to swim round.

Yes I am here lol Either pm me and feel free to ask whatever you wish to know or send me an e-mail I will send you the address by pm John

“ALL THOSE TRIPS advertised with people dropping out and spaces available?” I will say it again up until the 23th December I had NO financial interest in the venue. I also cannot recall ever advertising the venue on this forum by name. I have tried to advise guys who asked to know more and the advise I have given has been as a fellow angler who has paid to fish the venue 5 times. The original poster of this thread asked if anyone had any experience of xxxxxx. I replied as an angler who had fished it as indeed so is my 2nd post. I have also given advise on many other venues I have fished (on this and other forums) and will continue to do so where a venue I believe has the facilities the poster is asking about. Only last week (on this and other forums) a venue owner blatantly (making out he was just an angler) plugged their venue saying he had fished it a number of times and went on even praising the couple who ran it......... which in fact it was themselves! I would be interested to know pauline59 if you have indeed any connection with a venue?

Not fished it myself but the group I go with have 2 years ago and they had a great time by all accounts John

Just like to set the record straight. Up until the 23rd December my only interest in the venue was as a paying guests and my postings are 100% based on my fishing experience at the venue. I became friends with the owner and I did help the owner out and we did talk about becoming partners. I am pleased to say that on the 23rd December 2007 we sat down and came to an agreement and I became 50% owner of the venue as from that date. Should anyone else ask about the venue I will of course state my interest. I hope that has cleared the matter up. Tight lines wherever you fish in 2008 John

What date are you booking and how many of you are going? For the Cats minimum 3lb tc rod and I use braid 20lb should see you ok but 25 would be better. Many use live baits on a dumbbell rig but I use halibut 22 mm or bigger pellets. Going to try the new Smartbait 35mm next time I go. Fish them on a hair rig 3\4\5 on the hair. Large cat hook you will be able to buy some there next year can’t remember the size sorry BUT big lol Put about 6 in a PVA bag or better if you have a bait boat use that to get your rig and feed out. Then sit back and wait lol. When they go they go like a torpedo (not that I have ever hooked a torpedo). Cats really fight hard but once on the bank play dead. Use leather garden glove to pull them out the water using a large mat. They do not have teeth only pads like velcro but before you or a mate puts their hand in the mouth to grab bottom jaw make sure there are no other rigs where other anglers have been snapped up. Don’t forget Cats can swim backwards! Hope that is of help John

I have fished Bounty lake about 5 times. Hard fighting Carp, no monsters but if you want to bend a rod a few times a day with Carp up to 40lb then you can’t go wrong. If you want monsters then you have the Cats to go for, the record is 106lb. Just make sure you hold on tight lol This year they have new bailiffs and new showers and wc’s being built. Excellent value for the money. If you want to know more then get back to me. John

Taken from another forum Hello My name is Bob Williams .......... Owner of Want2Fish Chapel and Justices Lakes. I would like to put a few things straight before rumours take over the asylum and get completely distorted. The recent nightmare of weather and the resulting water caused major problems with the Lake equipment, like the grills etc and we believe that someone complained to the River Police who then descended on the lakes, in a manner befitting a Drugs Bust or Terrorist Threat. They have carried out a good number of such ‘raids’ on Lakes in the Limousin and they assume, sometimes correctly and sometimes not, that the operation is acting illegally in one way or another. This can be grill problems, having ‘woody vegetation’ on your dam wall, building shower blocks and toilets without planning permission and running restaurants without the necessary permits, having apparently illegal fish, like Grass Carp and Cat Fish and of course, not being registered (although we have a letter from the Tax Office in Bellac telling us we did not have to register! More about that later.) We are now aware that this operation, initially started in the Limousin, is due to sweep the country and next on the list, is the Champagne Region and then Brittany. I would urge any Lake Owners to check and double check their grills, dams and business procedures so this does not happen to them. I would not wish this on anyone. We purchased the business in Jan 2006 and spent a lot of time during 2006 trying to find out from the Chamber of Commerce, the Tax Office and the River Authorities all the necessary information to make sure we had this operation running correctly. Doing this illegally was not an option, mainly due to the fact my house in the UK was on the line, which would affect my wife and family and as such their lives. We had to do this right. We thought we were on the right track, and although this was not an easy operation, with the help of a translator, we made some progress, although this was slow and very few people would actually take on the responsibility and commit to paper, what they had told us. We managed to get a letter from the Tax Authorities that states, I am not required to be registered as I am NOT a Commercial Venture, which means No Siret Number, TVA or anything else. Also we spoke to the Chamber of Commerce, who said the same thing. The Translator and I were, to say the least, bemused, but 2 Agencies had told us the same thing so it must be so. Renting out amenity land (my Lakes) is not classed as a Commercial Venture as we do not supply any services like providing airport pick-ups, Bailiff Services, breakfast, dinner, cokes, beer, Bait etc from the lakes themselves. Both these Authorities were told what we were doing and came up with the same answer. I also have a 30 year ‘Valorisation Touristique’ document from the River Authority. When we made a statement and showed the Police and Tax Officials what we had they said this was good and would be good for our case. What is unfortunate it that the Police had no idea I had these documents. What has happened here is devastating in many ways, especially when we thought we had got it pretty much sorted out. The problems we had were in hand, but the weather in 2006 and in 2007 made these works frankly impossible to get underway until July or August. In conclusion to all this, I would ask you for your support, rather than your condemnation. We never intended to do this in any other way than properly and as close as we were to doing it properly .......... we were apparently not close enough.

All the same as you would use in the UK except maybe going up to say 15lb line depending on the size of the fish and if it has snags or open water. Have a good time and enjoy

looking for exclusive lake and accomodation
johnhere replied to adriangarson's topic in Fishing in France
This venue which use to be owned by the Millers its excellent for a family. The lake is a lot better than the pics show but the accommodation is spot on. Fished it last year and a great venue for a holiday\fishing -
Tell you why I go its simple. Its more of an adventure, its a holiday, better weather, good roads to drive on, meet some great people so have a great social time, and catch a few fish. Also I eat out at least once so have some great food and one of my trips this year (have 2 booked) I am tying it in with watching the Le Mans 24 hour race.
