Normally with stiff hinge rig, sometimes choddie. I use chod length with aggressive curve and loop knot. Have started using longer booms (14 inches). Straight point hooks.

Not an exact number. Depends on your lake, session length, stock size etc... If you are going to use larger quantities then put them in 1-2 days before you fish if you can. Then start of with 7-10 baits per rod and add a little and often and work your way into your session. In winter use more crumb and liquids. Make the crumb mix damp so its stick together but still easily falls apart. Bit like a crumbly cake.

Does it make a difference and if so, when and what scenario?

What about straight point hooks vs beaked point? I use straight points (chod hooks or muggas a fair bit). Always though hook points was a load of old pony as long as it is sharp.

Hey all, I've lost a lot of fish this year, which I do not have a history for. I normally use Stiff Hinge rig or Chod as my lake has fair bit of weed plus silty bottom. It is also shallow (2-6ft). I have been sharpening hooks up more by taking the point down and definitely pricking fish more often. BUT, when I pick up the rod after a take the fish is lost 5-10 seconds later. So my question is, is it the rig? Soft mouths? Is it the way the fish feed in shallow water whereby they do not tilt as much? Or am I over thinking it?

Any updates on this fishery please? Is it still run by James Cook?

Get the 13mm for multi rig with size 4 hook. Works fine for me.

Awesome! You won’t be disappointed. They are most buoyant non cork ball pop ups I’ve ever used. I recommend the coped squid, black pepper plus, choc orange and devils dung.

I used to roll bait and found main line base mixes really easy to use as they really mill them down fine. Baits direct sell them by the bucket 10kg. Then you can customise. I rolled Activ 8 and added garlic.

What about Mistral baits? Their MB1 is a nice milky bait.

Boilie crumb/chops, liquids and pellet. Also gonna try frozen bloodworm soon.

Why not get them dry and uncooked? You can get 5kg dry for about £20 maybe less... As good a bait as any...

You've only got to look at catch reports. If you ask here you'll always get the typical response... Use with confidence and concentrate finding the fish and presenting your rig well.

I am tempted to try the ESP Trighammer hooks with a multi rig...

I think softer boilies are way better. If they are hard then their leakage would surely be lower. Good soft baits would include anything from Sticky or CCMoore. Mistral Belachan and Shrimp is another nice soft bait. Baits with coarser ingredients tend to be more leaky and softer.

Lots of good baits on the market. Sticky Krill has done really well in recent years, you only need to look at catch reports. Heard good things about ABS baits too...

Hi all, I was considering a switch to sinking braid mainline to get better lead feel down and better bite indication but braid is not allowed on my water. I have been using Gardner GTHD line which is a low stretch mono and I have no problems with is whatsoever. BUT, would a fluorocarbon be the next best thing to braid or should I consider other low stretch monos? I see the technology for fluorocarbons has got better and looking at the Ultima Power Carp lines. Just wondering what peoples thoughts are with my query or if they could make any recommendations? Thanks. Having two small children I am probably limited to day ticket for the time being. I live in Norfolk and most of the better waters in norfolk are syndicate so just looking further south. Just looking for waters with plenty of 20's and good chance of a thirty. Have spent a bit of time on Swangey lakes in Norfolk but just looking for a change.

Can anyone give me suggestions for suffolk waters close to norfolk border. Thanks.
