  4. Can anyone give me any information about these lakes please?? I heard they have changed hands several times recently and wondering if there was a contact number?? Thanks
  5. I have fished the wensum for carp a couple of times but never caught. However, I saw 2 very large carp (20lb at least!) near to the railings at new mills yard just downstream of Halfords a few days ago. I have also seen some double figure sized commons at wensum park off oak street. THe water is getting quite clear now so if you have a good look round you might spot them. Tactics wise I would suggest bait up the night before anf fish first light. I would fish overnight though as you'll want to avoid the riff-raff.
  6. Anyone got more recent info on Snetterton pits?? HOw much is a ticket on here now??
  7. Thanks I just thought that inlines were good on silt and gravel but less so in weed and running rigs good on hard bottoms of any kind, therefore the shocker rig ticks quite a few boxes.
  8. Couple of questions about this rig. 1. Since it is running and inline do you think it is most versatile in terms of the bottom you are fishing on?? 2. Does hooklink length matter as much with running rigs as the lead could land slightly further up the line?? Thanks Ed
  9. Anyone got info on tactics, bait etc for the large lake at Charity/Common Lakes in Lenwade.
  10. What about charity lakes any info on stock, bait tactics etc.
  11. Can anyone give me info on carp fishing in Lenwade? I know there are alot of waters here just looking for info or contact numbers. Common Lakes, Charity lakes amongst others sound promising. Syndicate or day ticket not particularly fussy. Thanks
  12. Different falling with speed and angle at which it falls in the water. WIth casting the lead it will keep going forward and land further forward unless you feather or hold the land back on impact.
  13. Anyone got any tips about suitable rigs with baitboats?? PIctures might help. Curious as the lead and rig will fall differently through the water.
  14. I am about to start using it. It ties really easily and is very different to any other material. I doubt many use it that much and it isn't always availble. Since many carp/carp waters are pressured or difficult to cathc it can often pay to be different.
  15. It is also useful actually in bag so you know exactly where your bait has landed in relation to features or a marker.
  16. Recently a 40lb er has been caught for definite. My old man knows someone fishing who found that out. Not surprising really as it is a huge place. Bit like a very large swangey lakes. Tempted in the future. If Shelley gets on their you all know which bait to get on!! He baits up with tones of Nash Squid liver or Amber attract.
  17. I personall stick to the pike lake for carp. Its like having your own private lake. I have never fished it with more than 2 other people at one time. It is a bit easier than the other lake but you must get on the fish as the stock is smaller. Most decent food source baits work well.
  18. Neither! Sufix hooklinks and mainline for that matter are brilliant lovely materials.
  19. I use a small amount of shrink tube to aling and flip the hook on wide gape or longshank hooks but if you use hooks with a slightly inturned eye it flips every time without the tubing which is not as obvious on the bottom. Make sure the knotless knot goes down level with the point of the hook and is wound back up a couple of times to lock the knot. In addition, a small piece of tubing on the hook bend will further assist hook point alignment and flipping.
  20. Now made several leadcore leaders for different lead sysytems and they are as strong as anything. Its a hell of alot cheaper to do it this way too. Ready mades are £2-3 each (0.75-1m) whereas an ESP spool of 25m is just over a tenner. ESP leadcore is quality too.
  21. The reason i mention stiff hooklinks is I would imagine they would help kick the link away as it slowly dissolves and sinks whereas a non-stiff link might still allow the hook bait to land on the lead.
  22. How many of you use rig foam? I was wondering whether it really works as I have tried it in tanks and am not convinced. Does anyone have ideas to improve its effectiveness?? I would of thought stiff links like hybrid might help??
  23. I have just started to splice my own leadcore rigs and find it hard to believe that the tag end pulled through won't pull back throughagain under pressure. How does this work and would it be safer to use glue aswell???? Thought please.. thanks.
  24. Which is your preferred stiff coated hooklink material??? and why??
  25. Apparently Surlingham broad is packed with large carp as they find it difficult to get out. You need to get a boat in their to fish it as very difficult from the bank.
