  1. Started to tie some combi links using amnesia as the stiff main part. However, not sure which suitation would suit this material best. For example, I feel more confident fishing on gravel because its easier to locate using a marker set up but would amnesia present well over gravel?
  2. Tried this rig during winter as a single hookbait set up. Just wondering what other situations when this rig is beneficial and why?
  3. what hook size would best suit a 18 mm bait?? With a size 8 would the hair need to be longer?
  4. Does anyone have basic rules for hooklink length ?? I usually go for short links on hard ground like clay or gravel and longer on silt. Does this seem correct?
  5. Sort of. .. but he did say that most carpers are quiet secretive and competitive. He did suggest that they could be caught by other means than just boilies on the bottom so zigs nd surface fishing might be worth a crack if the conditions are right. He also said that he is sure other fish have been caught which he didn't know about.
  6. Just today spoken to James Cook who runs the fishery. It's basically £250 for whole year. The mallard lake is best stocked with carp and he informs that during 2006 the first 40lb carp was caught. There are also big carp in the swan lake but fewer of them. He also said he wasn't 100% sure of what was actually in there as the pits are quite large.
  7. i'm trying to find info and telephone numbers about this place but it seems no-one knows about it. My dad's mate used to be a bailiff there about 10 years ago. The same guy owns it (James???) it is members only i think and not too expensive. Other than that i think i'm going to just drive down there soon and ask.
  8. cheers good food for thought there. Usually use pop ups when fishing singles then bait heavier when using bottom baits. I've often read or heard that if you bait freebies with pop ups the fish can miss the popped up bait as they are feeding to close to the bottom. Normally fish 12 or 14 mm baits.
  9. Anyone tried these rigs. I have tried fishing singles this winter on standard pop-up rig with little luck. Any tips or feedback on this rig would be helpful such as baiting tactics, bait size hook size etc. Cheers
  10. keep it simple just add hemp 50:50 and some of your boilies too then spod out.
  11. Anyone got easy ways to get hooklink coating off hooklinks like snakebite etc. I can do it but not sure i'm doing it particulary well. Therefore, I would be grateful for some help. Cheers! Tight lines and all that...
  12. Does anyone fish Swangey lakes in Norfolk? Just wondering what tactics people use there as some people are a bit secretive on what they do. What baits, rigs, locations, line, heavy baiting etc?????
  13. I never use larger baits than 14mm unless i'm targeting wels catfish. then i move up to size 2 hook with say 21mm pellet of large boilie. most of the time i think its best to keep bait sizes fairly small anyway, because you can fire out more freebies. During winter i would move boilie sizes down to 10mm or less then use hook sizes 8-10 and then less free bait too.
