  1. Thanks Steve, Greenwood looks spot on and providing all goes to plan I think I will give it a go one evening next week.
  2. Hi All, Could do with a bit of advice, going to be around the Warrington area for a couple of days next week with work and was looking for somewhere to spend a couple of hours in the evening. Been on Google Maps and seen Sankey St.Helens canal, not sure of stock, fishing rights or area though. If anyone has any up to date information on with this place or somewhere else local it would be much appreciated. Not too fussed on fish size, and too be honest if there is a bit of river fishing local for barbel/chub I wouldn't mind that either. Thanks in advance, Matt.
  3. Definitely worth the money, as soon as I move back over that way in the next month it will be the first place I go. I've fished it on and off for the last 16 years but haven't been a member for a couple of years due to living in Coventry so can't give you much in the way of tips yet.
  4. I fish it the same way nige, which I why I couldn't understand the issue. Having read beanz' post it makes a bit more sense though.
  5. Surely if a standard rig is used the lead will be the same distance as any other rig presentation, be it bolt or running?
  6. Not been there myself but I know korda have featured the complex on a couple of thinking tackle episodes. May be worth a search on you tube if you haven't already. Good luck for the trip as well.
  7. Another way I lengthen the hair is a piece of dental floss threaded though the hair loop. Thread the bait on then tie off with a bait stop.
  8. Very well angled emmcee. Glad to see you got the hang of uploading photos too.
  9. Fox arma points for me. Nice strong gauge wire and sticky sharp.
  10. Fished hopsford a couple of time so have limited experience, but I've always done well fishing boilies tight to the island over scattered freebies. The usual popular baits work (mainline/sticky etc) Bottom seems quite uniform with silt. No weed that I found. Place is best fished midweek if you like a bit of peace as it gets rammed at the weekend. Sure someone with a bit more experience with the place will be able to help you out.
  11. The initial 'bite' from the hook would be caused by the fish trying to eject the hook. This would be enough for the line to peel from the spool as the fish runs with no resistance. Then as you strike this would set the hook down to the curve. That's always been my thinking with running rigs anyway. I don't think the lead will have much influence as the hooks initial grab happens before this. As previously said, I could also be completely wrong though...
  12. This was also my first thought. My thinking being the closer the hook to the bait the further into the carps mouth it will travel before being ejected.
  13. Hi mate, I live 5 mins away from Reedswood, and spent most of my fishing apprenticeship on their. Ive not fished it for a while but there should be a few fish over 20lb in their now. As far as methods go I always did well fishing the margins or the far reed bed, most baits work from boilies to sweetcorn and cat meat (personal favourite). Just bear in mind there are a lot of small carp, so you may need to use bigger/ double baits to avoid them, Matt.
  14. I have seen it on google earth, looks like a nice lake. Next time I pass I will try and get a good look at the signs. I will let you know of any info I find. thanks
  15. Hi, Does anybody have any information on the private pool on the B4102 Astley Lane in nuneaton. It is on the same road as seeswood but i dont think it is owned by the same club. I have recently moved a couple of minutes drive from here and if it is fishable would be an ideal venue. Thanks, Matt
