Dont think there is anymore the biggest i seen come out was 24lb and i fished it alot for a year and had 3 scraper 20s and loads of doubles.
-
its quite thin compared to snakebite you can get 2 colours i think one is browny colour and the other green i think not 100% sure. But like i say once its been on bottom it tends to take colour on. Its coated aswell so u can strip it back and make different rigs.

Hello mate happy new year to you too. I normaly use esp striptease for alot of my fishing as im confident in it and if your fishing silty place it changes colour and breaks it up a bit, especially when fishing over silt it takes the colour of the bottom on a bit.

Yeah il fish anywhere really. I just enjoy getting out fishing. I dont always fish for carp either, sometimes il just go down the river or something with feeder and maggots
-
If thats the big lake i think they just goto high doubles. I used to go ages ago and used to bagup with the method feeder

What size fish are still in there? id be intrested in fishing it if theres anything decent My dad blanked but he said that there were gale force winds as its quite open. There were no carp topping or no signs what so ever but judging by the photo album the farmer keeps there should be some good fish in there, a few of them looked close to 30lb. I haven't seen any carp come out so i'll hold judgement til a see for myself. Thanks mate il definitly have to pop down soon

Paul, I lived close by for years. The water was only known as 'The Floods' because it was originally caused by the Trent flooding. There never used to be fishing allowed but the odd local got permission occasionally. In about 1985/6 a friend and I once asked the farmer if we could fish there and he gave us permission. We only did one 3 day session there to see if there were any signs of it having carp in. We had no action and didn't see anything other than silver fish and the odd larger Bream. We never went back again which was a shame and possibly an opportunity missed. I did hear of a few nice pike being caught there over the years. It could/maybe had carp in from the Trent but I've not heard of any being caught. Of course this all may have changed and it could now be stocked with carp and heavily fished for all I know. Access is difficult unless you know the area well or the owner gives you access through the farm. Cheers mate I found a gate down a lane at the side of it and drove into the field as another car was there and it said public footpath. There was only the one peg that looked fishable without wearing waders and that looked quite shallow. Be intresting to know whats in there

yeah i looked on the overhead map and it looks like hole 1 fairway cuts through the pool and then another hole the green is right by the lake. Surley that cant be legal with health and safety? It only takes 1 golf ball on the head to kill someone -
Cheers good luck mate it looks a nice place

Probably rubbish. I think someone told me when i was fishing forge farm ages ago. What size did you catch them upto?
-
Yeah i was watching a bloke catching small carp in there. I dont know how you can contact him. Maybe if you knew farm name, is it called froggats farm? im not sure lol. I just had a drive over there one day to have a look but ive never fished it
-
Yeah theres a couple of smaller ones but they are really small. He showed me photos of 20s and a few 30s out the big lake but i think they got nicked
-
sorry mate reading it again i think you was on about this place. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=abbotts+bromley&ie=UTF8&ll=52.83273,-1.887825&spn=0.00608,0.013733&t=h&z=16 The pool in the bottom left hand corner is supposed to have some big fish in but think they got nicked. He showed me a photo album once and john wilson had been there The other pool i was on about is here http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=abbotts+bromley&ie=UTF8&t=h&ll=52.800238,-1.879027&spn=0.00299,0.00633&z=17 Also i found this other quite big lake around that area and i went and had a look at it. There was signs that people had been fishing it but it looked quite awkward to get to it http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=abbotts+bromley&ie=UTF8&ll=52.755334,-1.882997&spn=0.012181,0.027466&t=h&z=15

i know the place you mean mate We used to call it farringtons or forge farm. Or do you mean the place a bit further up the road with 3 pools? If you mean forge farm it got took over a few years ago by fosters and the police. I think they use it for kids with asbos and stuff . I was quite gutted because you could used to bag up on carp there
-
yes mate ive got that video too It looks just like that lol. Its probably nicer actually because the trees and stuff would of grown more. See you was putting the place down and you hadnt even been, now you realise how nice the place is.

Hi Iggy, Well after careful deliberation and after reading through the thread (which I started) I joined Blackfords last week. I fished their new pool - the one by the side of the toll road, can't think of its name and caught plenty of fish. Mainly small roach and bream, a couple of nice bream up to about 4lb and 2 pike at about 8 and 9lb but no Carp I'm afraid. Spoke to a few of the lads fishing down their but none off them were catching big just lots of small bits - good sport though. I visited Calf Heath today, 2 guys fishing for carp I spoke to hadn't caught but had a couple of good takes/ runs all the rest had caught descent perch, bream etc... I'm fishing the pool at the back of Sainsburys tomorrow with my brother (both now members of Blackfords). I will be after the carp and my bro will be swim feeding/ waggler fishing for the big perch and tench the pool is famous for. Hopefully have a good day if this bloody rain stops The new pool hasnt got many carp in it. I think its just got big ones that have been in there years. Full of bream, roach and tench though. At calf heath the best thing to do is spod a load of particles and fish over the top of it. And sainsburys hasnt got and tench in it, maybe the odd 1 if your very lucky. Speak to tom the baliff if he comes round, he will tell you theres only roach, pike and carp . If you want to bag up just goto the turf and use same tactics as calf heath
