the pigs lake, used to be football pitches but as you say the land started to sink, im not sure weather it was then chosen to flood it,,,or it just happened, the river follows the far bank if your looking at it from the road before moving slightly in to the middle nearer the pub,
the best areas iv found are either in the orchard just past the island, the wires, and further down in the shallower water towards the pub, and whilst the waters cold i no a few fish get caught out of the river!
cant be to sure other than that for winter location as iv not fished it in the cold myself!...the stretch of river near the pub is controlled by daw mill ac...you can only fish the small stretch at the top end through the gate on the birch ticket...
as for the cov pools, i no that there are fish in there, but iv not fished it,,,and so what i no is only wat iv been told, the potential for big fish is there,,,but as its connected to the pigs im guessing that the fish will be very similar, and so i personally wouldnt expect to find anything huge in there, but theres only one way to find out i suppose!
once the weather warms up a bit ill be more than happy to meet u down the pigs mate, weather it be for a days fishing or just a walk about. wont be at the computer for a week or so now,,im off to gambia 2nite
