  1. Hoping to get on this time round. Have heard bad reports on the road round the lake, can anyone confirm? Would love to get on a decent water for a change.
  2. Used to have the jrc sti 2 man twin skin, to be honest I'm torn between the slx v2 and the 1 man jrc sti Looking for someithing a bit bigger than a jrc stealth brolly a bit warmer and drier for the colder months.
  3. Hi All, Looking at the Trakker SLX v2 bivvy however i've heard, mixed reviews about stability and condensation. Anyone had this bivvy can comment please.? Currently have a JRC Stealth which i need to upgrade for the coming winter months. TIA
  4. Got a few days off coming up and my 13yo daughter wants to go carping again Wondered if anyone could recommend a runs water to give her a try out on? Looking around Derby, Notts, midlands area. I was thinking about The Riddings in Tamworth but not sure how its been fishing.? TIA for any pointers.
  5. Hi All, I've has a snout around the forums and couldnt find much info. Im off here for a week in one of the luxury lakeview lodges with the misses. Has anyone been here recently that could maybe offer some advice of whats been out recently or anything to look out for.? I've heard it gets packed during the weekends? Going to do a couple of days in the lodge on the match lake just to keep the missus quiet then i'll do the rest on the carp lake. Thanks in advance for any info.
  6. Added you to msn, maybe we should meet up for a beer one evening and discuss a sesion.?
  7. Mate seriously i'd be well up for that and would be willing to help with stocking, baliffing, swim building etc etc. Would pay probably £300 - 350 .. If your serious then why not a bunch of us get together one weekend for a beer and a natter.?
  8. Hi Chris, you have msn or the like.? I can give you the low down on local areas i live on tennyson close.
  9. Ian ive just PM'd you if you could send me the info too please, id be miuch apprecieated
  10. Likewise i never had any tuition from parents etc. I started off fishing runs waters gaining confidence unfortunately I hit a good pb from early on (25lb common) so when ive blanked for over 4-5 months i do sometimes feel a bit deflated but then it also just makes me try even harder. About 18 months ago i decided to start going for the harder waters and bigger fish, every session is a school day so i dont mind if i blank as long as ive learned something either about the water my methods or myself
  11. Could tag up for a day session in a fortnights time if you like.?
  12. Ok welder well the lake to the left is mainly a pike lake and the one to the right is called the "Lodge lake" (I think) if you want more info on them its best to call Bridge Tackle shop in measham and ask for Dave he will be able to give you more info on them. I've never fished them. I know tuckers holt, big lake, dont allow traditional carp baits though , e'b NO boilies, etcetc
  13. I only live in measham and am allways on the lookout for new lakes too. I think the one in HEATHER is run by a tackle shop nearby and is mainly a match lake. There is another mush larger lake nearby again a day ticket i think but they dont allow boilies etc.
  14. I didnt fish the specimen lake but i fished the other lake. Was blazing hot and a still managed a 14lb mirror can upload pic if wanted. I've seen some big cats come out of the specimen lake during my hols down their too.
  15. Me and a mate have fished the VALE 4 times so far and i would definitely go back. We've only had maybe 10 fish in the four times but theyre cracking fish. If you can cast far then aim for the far bank its probably 150+ yards so not easy. Failing that bait an area with ALOT of bait and fish over it, their are no features in the lake or on the lake bed so you have to draw them to you and keep them there so people tend to fish over large beds of bait. Last time i went i saw two lads take about 20 carp in a 24hour session and they fished over probably 10KG's of bait I wouldnt say its a runs water but you should have a good chance of catching a couple. Let us know how you get on mate, i may do another weekender there soon. Oh also theres a great pizza place near by which will deliver to the gates if you ask them nicely
