I’ve just got 0.30 mono invisible line it says it’s like tiger patterns if you look at it under light green/black kind of ..? I’m going to put it on the rod tomorrow now as I’m new to carp fishing I usually do canal I’ve had some stunning large perch like pound and half which is huge for me as it’s normally always little ones I even try using large hooks an wedge a squillion maggots on it to dissuade the little gits but no , oh no , the little bleeders will swallow the whole thing and most of the time you end up killing them trying to disgorge the hook !

Thanks very much !, yeah I’ll grind nuts down and use the dried crusts blended up with a managerie of sweetcorn , luncheon meat corned beef , and I’ve some special zingy jellies sweets that Mike’s my mouth go ooh !! So illl make up some pva bags using all sorts of known and unknown things all prepped in pva bags ready for spring plus I know some nice sloping banks under water that when they drained the Rez down in 90 when I was a kid i think I’m gonna focus there ?!! So I’ll keep you posted as I go …. Wish me luck and thanks for your support

Wow! Guys ! Thanks for the advice it’s much appreciated!! I was thinking about a sweet n sour kind of mix in a pva bag ? Like a mix of mashed dry roasted peanuts, fizzy cola bottles spam , all chopped up into small bits , bit of bread crusts , you know , all sorts of bizarre things?.. now I’ve a reservoir by me and I recall it being drained down in 90 due to blue/green algae breakout , so I kinda know where the deep areas are and where it starts to drop off to the deeper places , obviously I don’t know how deep the deeper places are ?, should I pick a place where I know it slopes off to the deeper places? As I know not how deep the carp like to dive to ? And what depth they like to feed at ? Does anyone know that kinda thing? Or am I just being too dumb??!!!!

Yes thanks the line I ordered is .30mmive done some checking and I think that works out to be around 40 lb? Yet it doesn’t look very thick?..

I’ve heard that carp have been caught on jelly babies marshmallows and even bubblegum balls ? Is this true?

I’m only used to fishing the canal float style but have a large reservoir near by . I am going to have a bash at the carp in there . I’ve spoken to dedicated fishermen who camp there for days and they even have names for the large carp they pull out of there so I know there is some 30/plus pound fish . As I’m new to it I’ve got a few good quality telescopic ten footers and I’m using braided line . Ten lb be ok? There’s no logs /branches , there was a lot of weeds a couple of summers back but it’s all died off till spring I suppose??so should I get some 15/20 lb braid ? I prefer it to the mono .
