Lee Kashan got a reaction from kevtaylor in The Carp Strikes Back, by Rod Hutchinson
I think he is a better writer than Yates, by miles..
It's a toss up between this and Carp Sense by Jim Gibbinson as to which holds top spot for the best carp book ever written
They are both that good in my opinion. I read this in one sitting. It's phenomenal.

I think its key to use what you like using and stick with it
Never forget that there are endless little alterations you can make with your choice of hook regarding the hook size, bait size, rig length, hair length etc.
I used to tie ultra neat rigs all the same length thinking they were ''the one'', but that isn't the way forward as all you are doing is teaching the carp which bait has a line stuck in it!

Lee Kashan reacted to greekskii in Big Hooks
size 4 all the time. Normally with a 15/16mm pop up. Hook more fish, land more fish. Even when surface fishing my bread crust has a big size 4 in it.
This winter I am toying with the idea of dropping to 6s with 12mm pop ups though...

95% of the time I'm using a size 4. Might go down to a 6 if using a pop up.
There's so much silt on the bottom of the lake, I very much doubt they can make them out.

I quite like them, used to use them a lot, must keep an eye on their stuff, they are a clever bunch..
ESP just suit the way I like to fish and the lakes I fish a bit more if that makes any sense lol

Lee Kashan got a reaction from dayvid in Grey prodigy gt4 £70!!!!
Basically any tube will have a plane which it ''likes to'' bend on
Building on this, the spine as it's called, will improve a rods performance no end, mainly casting accuracy thing but also the feel is better and far less twist
I don't accept non spine built rods any more
Most of the big manufacturters will rubbish the importance of it for a simple reason - they can't be bothered to do it
Daiwa's upper range of rods is built in the UK, on the spine. They are the only big manufacturer which bothers. You're looking at Whiskers and above. I have a pair of Whiskers as my spare rods and they are very good
