  1. I use a sonik sks spod rod and it's easily good enough for the job. I have a mitchell avospod reel on it. Whole set-up with braid purchased off the bay in bulk for about £70 if you look around. Way I see it if I break the reel its only £30 to replace it. and the rod can be replaced for £35-45 depending on where you look. I can hit 100yards without using great casting technique with that set up.

  2. I've used the whiplash & wouldn't buy it again tbh , cast superbly but doesn't like going round the sticks the amount of times it would knot massively when reeling back in was head doing. ( which I put down to it drying out so quickly) meaning lost time & braid & lots of albrigt knots lol You also need a leader with it as it's dineama braid & ultra thin .

  3. If you only need 80 yards & don't do it often just buy a cheap 50 £ job . I only upgraded to the spomb rod because I needed to chuck a large spomb further than the fox warrior I had could stomach .

    Spod rod for under £120

The best thing you can do if you have a sonik stockist nearby is pop down there and have a look at one, the one thing that crops up on rod recommendation threads is rods feel different to each person so if you can go and have a look one i would advise it.

Sound like a carpzone salesman here lol, But im sure cyborx will agree that the hurricane could easliy fit 2 wideboys with overwrap on going front to back with a nice gap down the middle. Ive see a few 2 man bivvys for around the money you are looking at and imo none come close. The other thing on the hurricane is the headroom. Tons of it.

Cheers pal. I was actually looking at a JRC STI. I'll give it a miss. Need plenty of room if I'm taking the missus. I've got a 1man Avid Hq and that's a nice bivvy. Don't know what the 2man is like.

  8. If you do a lot of spodding keeno Reel = Daiwa emblem spod Rod = free spirit 13ft spomb , which is in budget.

I still havent mate, no need for the over wrap yet, still in its bag unused. Wanted to fish through winter but life got in the way. But i agree, easily another 50cm maybe more with the size of the peak on it.

+1 for the hurricane 2 man, a little on the heavy side to haul to the bank but well worth the effort, i also have a wideguy bed and could still hold a disco in it
