you use a peice of shrink tubing over the hook(remember to shrink it with steam as i saw some prat doing it without the other day  )

Original bent hook rigs are classed as being dangerous as they can lead to double hooking fish

the withy pool rig is about as close as you are going to get nowadays.

I saw someone using the bent hook rig at a local club water and he was using the old drenan lure hooks that the rig was invented on, he got a good talking to by the bailiff !!

PMSL i wonder if he caught anything that day??? :P

I'm not condoning there use as they were designed to cope with a Particular Situation.

Its only when they got used by Everyone and his dog without thought that they became a Problem!

Its the Big Fish Syndrome again, on small fish they caused a lot of mouth damage or where the arrangement was not suitable for how the Carp were picking up the Bait.

There are still hooks on the Market that cause Damage if the Angler doesn't think about what he is doing!

No, The Bent hook rig had a Bend in the Middle of the Shank to put the point towards the eye of the Hook.

Using a Line Aligner and Shrink Tube the same effect can be created SAFELY without risk to the Carp. The Shrink Tubing will straighten slightly as you are playing the Fish. Then go back into an acute angle when Pressure is released.

These are a good substitute for a Bent Hook rig on this link.

is the bent hook rig like the withy but with the hook and not tubing? and if a hook has a bend from the eye till where it starts to cerve under is that ok.

if you mean a hook with a slightly interned eye then yes i think that is ok and cant cause damage to the fish but might want to wait for a reply from some of the more experienced lads

im asuming this is what you mean
