  1. its nice when you dont get any kip now and again but your guranteed that kind of fishing evrytime you go there. glad the info was of soem use.
  2. i would try and spread your selves about as the fish realy do keep tight to your own margin. try and make as little desterbance as possible. aprt from the isalnd there are no features all clay bottom and very shallow. big beds of ground bait worked when i used to fish it but your setting your self up for lots of little ones. fish tiny amounts of bait. reposition your hook baits every 30 mins. ive casted out on there a few times and as i was pulling the line to set the bobbin the line has pulled out of my hand with a fish taking it on the drop.
  3. forgot to mention they love bread. i take 15 loafs with me . as evry bodies backing up start feeding bread and keep feeding even through the night and you will catch the bigger fish of the top right the way through the night. there are a few low 20s in there but you have to fight your way through smaller fish. no point in taking a bedchair you wont be getting any sleep.
  4. m8 any one who tells you that theres a thirty in there is telling porkies. ive done loads of nights up there a few years back. litterally any peg and you will bag up. fish the lake on the right as you go in to the fishery. in the day only drop a hook bait half way across to the isalnd at night drop your hook baits 3 inches of your own margin. all the big fish are in the margins at night. keep away from pop up and anything fluro in colour. just bags or a tiny amount of bait on each hook baits works realy well. a word of warning though at night you get a lot of poachers coming down to the lake. they turn up at 2am catch the fish and are gone by 3am. ive nevr had any trouble with them but its always worth staying out of there way.
  5. he amazes me . he catches where ever he goes. i do know that he puts a great deal of effort in though. why canrt i catch liek that?
  6. i think you might of been there the same time he did the article. he did winkle one out as he walked to the rods to reel them to give it kneck.
  7. nick did you read the article in one of the carp mags about swp dave lane was on it.very good reading realy but so is all off dave lanes stuff.
  8. tamworth taz if you only live 2 mins away from the birchmoore stretch its worth a look at the lamb waters. the one behind the locked gate then the river next to it. plus birch moor is very cheap for a ticket so you might aswell join both clubs.
  9. use a korum method feeder.make sure you keep the pole close to the water when you play the fish becuase if you have a hook pull you dont want the feeder smashing through a £2000 pole.
  10. figure of 8 .but add the swivel on first then tie the figure of 8. with practice and nimbal fingers you can get the knot to touch the swivel.
  11. Excuse Me? First point, check your grammar, it makes posts easier to read and understand! Second Point, Me, Top Angler? I have little Desire to be a Famous Top Angler. I go fishing for my own reasons. To get away from the Terrors of my Personal Life, to relax, and because I enjoy fishing. If I catch its a Bonus. I put my own effort in. I compete on MY OWN TERMS! I also don't fish the same waters or have quite the same want of Publicity. Ron Buss is a Good Angler, he has caught more Big Fish than I ever have. He also has the backing of some mighty powerful sponsors and again Good Luck to him. Third Point, I was pointing out that I have been using that same sort of rig for over 15years. Its also called a Shock rig, Running Shocker Rig, and probably more names depending on where its used. Fourth Point, Check out the other people who have seen this rig before it was re-named and re-published. Forgive the sarcasm, I have a habit of it every now and again. PMSL i wouldnt want to see you in a fight nick
  12. i did notice this with a certain knot sorry i dont no the name but i tried a few other knots with it and it was fine. its the only braid i can honestly say ive never had a problem with especially while playing a fish
  13. KIK BAK all the way. and it comes in clear or green
  14. middy make one thats a dark brown its called dacron and u get 20 metres for 2.50 its realy realy good if you can find it becuase hardly any body sels it. plus it takes on the silt so it blends in well .
  15. brilliant m8 obviously no good on gravel unless you can get one that blends in well. ask the balif ofthe water before you use it just incase they have a problem with it though.
  16. thanks for that can any one actually how me a pic of a bent hook rig please.
  17. no not the inturned eye but can you see the bend from the eye till it curves up to go towards the point of the hook.i have these hook or somthing very similar are these classed as bent hook rigs?
  18. is the bent hook rig like the withy but with the hook and not tubing? and if a hook has a bend from the eye till where it starts to cerve under is that ok.
  19. who ever said about toast well in my match i used 4 balles of liquidised bread then out the beanz over the top. ive tried the bread on its own and now were near as good as with the beanz and ive also tried the beanz on there own with the same results. ive realy got to stop giving my match secrets away.
  20. i was keeping that a secret. damn u lol. well im a match fisherman that does as much carping as i can and in a match i had 34 carp all about 3 lb i fed beanz and fished cat meat over the top. the carp love em because there soft i think. i won the match with 143lb40z
  21. got to be the kordas with a few other brands chucked in very hard to decide realy.
  22. dont buy the pallatrax and maver stuff they teamed up to do it a peice of drain pipe. stiff, thick, brittle and it floats lol.
  23. this thread has just blone me away i must of read it four times! some of the comments on here especially off ripslider on page oneare brilliant. this has just mad me totaly change my approach to fishing. but i think that complicated rigs have been made to do a certain job, such as the withy pool rig was developed to make a harder to eject rig. i think that at first on a unfished water we shud use the simplist rig possible then when the carp wise up slighlty change the rig, may be add a bit of strink tubing. as each rig gets wised up to this is when we change rigs over to give another new option to the carp. but i do beleive that rigs are devleoped and invented to over come a problem. withy 4 its anti eject properties the chod and the helipcopter to be able to fish in silt . i dont think they are made to fill magazine pages. but to solve a situation and to fool the carp. when i fish i fish the simplist way possible i fish the more complicated rigs when the simpler ones wont catch, but 9 times out of ten the simplist comes out on top for me. shaun
  24. go into the match section of ur tackle shop and look for a dimond eye threader . first thread the wire through the tubing then thread the line through the loop in the wire then just pull the wire through.
  25. correct about the elastic being to stretchy thats why u hav to point the tip away from the snag in the opposit direction infact. anther good way i use in matches is if ur trying to get a fish in against the wistle get ur top section put it dieretly up in the air grab the elastic, keep the pole up and let the fish pull the elastic. if u hold the pole and let the elastic run between ur index finger(imagine u are casting and ur holding the line just before u punch it out) and the pole this slows the fish and gives it less elastic. sorry im not very good at explaing things but now u hav a rough idea if u can ask some one about it on ur local water maybe he can help!
