Your fingernails... on a normal knotless knot arangement, I srip about 6-7 inches of coating off before tying the hook on, although it doesn't have to be perfect because you can strip a bit more after you have tied it, if required.

Remove what you need to tie the rig you want!

 

I have some rigs with just a supple hair and a stiff hooklink, some with a supple length next to the hook, some that is supple at both ends and stiff in the middle.
