pineaplepopup Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 why is it that frank warwhik only evr uses long shank for pop ups and wide gape for bottom baits can i ask? does any one use both these hook for different situations. Quote
trees Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 yep I use widegapes for all my fishing Quote
pineaplepopup Posted December 19, 2005 Author Report Posted December 19, 2005 me too but what would be the advantages in differtent situations using the long shank Quote
trees Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 dunno myself but seem to catch much more fish on the wide gapes. Have tried Longshanks and never had much luck on them and don't feel confident about them. The only reason I can see to use longshanks is to tie more complicated rigs that require more space on the hook to do so (blowback rigs etc...). Quote
carp_mad_man Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 I ALWAYS USE LONG SHANKS BECAUSE OF THE STRAIGHT POINT IT WILL CATCH HOLD QUICKER THEN ANY OTHER. btw i would use wide gapes as pop up rig and long shank for anything but poping up the wide gapes are smaller and i would think lighter to.
