dunno myself but seem to catch much more fish on the wide gapes. Have tried Longshanks and never had much luck on them and don't feel confident about them. The only reason I can see to use longshanks is to tie more complicated rigs that require more space on the hook to do so (blowback rigs etc...).

I ALWAYS USE LONG SHANKS BECAUSE OF THE STRAIGHT POINT IT WILL CATCH HOLD QUICKER THEN ANY OTHER.

btw i would use wide gapes as pop up rig and long shank for anything but poping up the wide gapes are smaller and i would think lighter to.
