  1. paint your hook white this will increase the amount of takes you get
  2. needle knot is deffinately the best and neatest although being a lazy so and so i always end up using the gardner ready looped ones .... heavy enough a probably the lowest dia on the market ..........
  3. use some no5 pole elastic with a four turn knot on your line ,you can then have the backlead only flying back only as far as you want it..........
  4. not quite sure why you would use a 30mm boilie but a size 2 hook would suit although you may want to have a longer hair and smaller hook. the most important thing however is that whatever hook size, is that it is sharp. other than location the second most important thing is hook sharpness... 30mm you must have huge bream where your fishing
  5. ive spent the last few seasons using all different manner of rigs, long shanks hooks ,shrink tubing, shot, curved, reverse hairs, rig rings, putty all sorts of hooklegths and various other paraphernalia. this season it was back to taking my own advice i often give out on here ."keep it simple". so it was back to straight forward mantis to a B775 hook.and guess what my catch rate improved DOH
  6. spitting on it is the worst thing you can do,if the line is dry and so is the tubing you wont have a problem. mono should not be a problem unless your using less than 10lb line. with braid you need a line threader. you may be using silicone rubber tubing instead of rig tubing which is slightly more ridgid this could be the cause of your problem
  7. by rubbing your fingers along the hooklength, you will generate enough heat to straighten it,this will stop it looping off the bottom, a couple of pieces of kryston drop em will ensure it stays pinned down.
  8. great rig the withy pool rig first used it at withy pool just because of the name, had a pb from there on it,later used it on all sorts of waters and found it effective everywhere i used it with virtually every hookhold bang slap in the centre of the bottom lip. its my first choice if im fishing a pop up. although i rarely fish pop ups my three largest ever carp were caught whilst using them..........yet i still have an aversion to using them , no idea why ???
  9. ditto ! just had my front one fixed as i had worn a groove in it...
  10. the most crucial part of the mechanics of this rig is the hard rubber maggot used as the aligner. enterprise make the rubber maggots in both hard and soft versions,it is crucial that you use the hard ones,as the soft ones just wont hook effectively.
  11. have to say i have used the withy pool rig for years and i cant remember the last time the carp was not hooked slap bang in the middle of the bottom rig. mind you a would not class it as a complicated rig , hook and shrink tube very simple.
  12. a simple piece of 15lb mono pushed thro first tie a loop then pull braid back thro job done.
  13. i agree as well which is a bit worrying ..... do you think frank knows something we dont ?????
  14. been on krystonite all this season, great line and pretty abrasion resistant as well, hooklengths were sensor a couple of seasons back and were also very good (cant remember why i changed) but will be on the suffix this year to start with........
  15. ps am also going back to mono this year.....
